Question about DeLonghi DSM7 Stand Mixer

Open Question

Electrolux Assistent I don't have a DeLonghi DSM7, but I do have an Electrolux AKM 5125, Type: N26. Saturday I made a double batch of chocolate chip cookie batter (without the chips included) in the white plastic bowl with the double beaters attached. I was using around 6 cups of white flour and and 4 cups of white & brown sugar, so the dough wasn't heavy as if I was using whole wheat flour. When I added the last of the flour, the machine seemed to be straining, so I let the flour mix in and I turned off the machine. The next day, I had one more batch of cookies to make and placed a cup of really, really soft butter into the bowl for it to beat. For the first minute everything was ok, then the double beaters decided to just stop rotating. The motor goes, but the main drive socket won't rotate. The drive socket located on the side of the machine (for the blender, etc) rotates just fine. I have had the machine for a little under 2 years. andersenna@comcast.net

Well let us see what you are mixing maybe you are putting to much flour in the bowl and stressing out the hook could be a cheep replacement hook most of them are coming from china now and do you know there are two different style hooks one is a "J" hook and the other is a spiral hook al of your larger machines use the spiral hooks

I can't get the tilt release to release to raise the mixer . I have a batch of cookie dough in the bowl and I am unable to raise the mixer

Try running the mixer for a few seconds to clear anything out from under the beaters, like a chocolate chip. You can also try pushing down on the beater end of the mixer, press the button and lift.

type delonghi in the search bar. Pick a site and yell at them. Kidding, tell them your problem and they should work with you. Get a phone number and call them, get the salesmans name and a time frame you can expect repacements.

Runs fast for a few seconds , then runs very slow

I had the same problem and fixed it.
  1. I took it apart, unplug unit, remove the small black cover inside the stand portion, 1 screw. Underneath you will find four screws with a white plastic wire junction.
  2. Loosen two screws and remove the black and brown wires which connect to the control panel with the dial attached.
  3. Remove rear attachment cover, front top cover, and front delonghi cover.
  4. Remove top three screws where the blender attachment goes. Now remove the aluminum cover that covers the entire top.
  5. Slip belt off. Remove three screws with plastic washers that attach motor to chassis.
  6. Remove 2 torx screws that are located next to metal bar that keeps top half from swinging too far from bottom half.
  7. Now you can pull the motor out and the control panel with the dial. Remove the three slip on electrical connections on the control panel and reinstall. Carefully remove the two slip on electrical connections on the motor and reinstall.
  8. Re-assemble and test unit.
I thought I had a problem with the control panel or the motor, as it turns out the connections were the problem. Carefully removing them and reinstalling them solved the problem.

Loud and throws flour all over

Do you find the motor running too fast at the lowest setting? Then you need to bring it to someone to adjust the low speed setting. If you are preparing double batches you are over loading the mixer and/or using too fast a speed setting to mix. Don't try to double recipes just because the bowl can handle the volume, the motor cannot and will not last very long if stressed mixing dough frequently.

NO POWER! -- DeLonghi Stand Mixer 7 qt

There should be a overload breaker on the bottom of the motor, tilt it back and look for a little red (probably) button.  other than that, there shouldn't be anything else... if it doesn't  work, it might be defective... Don't give up hope though, those mixers, (used to be Rival, and made by Kenwood in europe) are *SOO* much better than Kitchenaid, it's not even funny *Grin* and good luck.
