Turn laptop off, unplug power and battery, use a screw driver to get back plate off. Then unplug the CMOS battery. Put battery back in, turn laptop on. Turn laptop off. Plug cmos battery back in. Put battery back in and when you turn laptop back on again password should have reset :)
That is the bios password, in order to bypass that you would need to know the password, either ask your friend for the password, or you would need to remove the bios battery inside the laptop wait 10 seconds and place it back and turn on the laptop to reset the bios.
To reset the BIOS password read the information from this link.
In case of your HP Elitebook laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper and I wouldn't recommend doing it especially if it's under warranty.
Which password are you referring Windows or BIOS. Well follow the below steps:
Reset BIOS Password: If you have forgot BIOS password then you have to reset CMOS jumper setting. Please follow the below steps: Open the Laptop back panel. Locate the CMOS battrey, remove it & then with the help of a screw driver keep on pressing the terminal inside it and turn ON the computer for 10 secs and Turn Off (make sure you keep on pressing the terminal with a screwdriver while turning ON). It will short the BIOS setting. Now, fix the CMOS battrey & restart the computer. This will take care of the issue.
Inorder to reset the Windows password, I would suggest a full system recovery. To do so, follow the below steps:
Turn Off the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.
