Question about Sony KP-57WS500 57" Rear Projection Television
I have had a repair man here and he replaced the circuit board and the tv worked for about an hour and then was out again...... Can you help.. repair man is stumped Thanks, Jodi Jensen
Based on your description, the most likely diagnosis is a failure of the power supply stage although please understand that TVs are quite complex and diagnosing one without being in the same room is not easy.
This area of the TV comprises some fuses, a bridge rectifier (4 diodes) a couple of capacitors, fusible resistors and a regulator. All are prone to failure.
That stuff can be checked quite easily if you have a multimeter and a soldering iron. Is this something you think you are capable or willing to do?
The first thing to check would be the main fuse.
If you don't feel comfortable doing this, the repair cost will likely be between $200 and $400 depending on the problem.
Hope that helps........

Tips for a great answer:
Five blinks - AKB
circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks
for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function.
Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761
and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on
the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning
up screen A2 slightly.
