I was trying to change my settings to take better pictures in the dark and I said yes to format. Now I can't see my pictures. Did I erase them all on my memory card, or is there a way to restore them? Please help me.

Formatting deletes everything on the memory card, but you can recover the pics.

First take the memory card out of the camera. Pictures that have been deleted are probably still there, but will be overwritten if you take any more pictures on top of them.

Your camera is not able to undelete pictures, but there are programs for doing this on a computer. You can put the memory card into a card reader attached to a computer, and use an undelete program to recover the deleted files. Undelete programs are available for free download from the internet, try the one at THIS LINK

You may have to have the program do a "surface scan" to find the pics after a format, not just a normal undelete.

If the pictures are very important to you, you might want to seek help from an experienced person.

    Don't be so worried about ur pictures. There are some gud photo recovery software available on internet. But first of all please stop using d card anymore to increase d chances of recovering files. Then you need rely on professional photo recovery tool. Install a good photo recovery tool and follow the following steps:
    1. Install the software on ur computer.
    2. Connect the memory card to computer.
    3. select the drive(usually G or H for memory card) , click Start. Now the scanning process will start to search the deleted files. After a while you will then get a list of recoverable files.
    4. Press Recover to perform full recovery.

    Some of the good picture recovery tools are Recuva, Kernel for Digital Media, recovery Fix for Windows

My samsung BL103 was taking black and white pictures. I was trying to get it back to color. I went to settings hit format, said yes or no? I hit yes and now have no pictures on my memery card. Can those...

Format completely erase the memory card with no hope of recovery. You need to dust off your manual and read it to find the correct setting for color pics.

The camera erased all my pictures and it will not format the disk

Have you tried to put the card in a card reader and connect it to your computer? Card readers can be purchased at just about any store that sells electronics or camera supplies. They cost around $20 or less. You put the card in the card reader, attach it to your computer and click on start and then my computer.You should be able to see something that says digital media or mass storage. Highlight that and that right click. It should give you the option of formatting the card. It will erase everything and format it for you. Then you can try it in the camera. If this doesn't work then it should be looked at. Good luck

'File error' message on samsung L200 camera when viewing a photo

Possible solution:

I had/have the same problem using L200 and SDHC memory card, called Samsung. Can't view certain pictures on camera or computer, camera freezes when viewing those certain pictures, green light flashing.

Samsung support told me that I needed to copy my (good) pictures to a computer first because a memory format will erase everything. Then format (menu->settings->format->yes) my memory card. Tried this just now and took some new pictures, so far so good.

Help

Hi,

Yes and in several methods as below listed. Since your posting refers to a generic problem for all digital cameras and not only an Olympus FE-230, some of the settings may have a different nomenclature or button name.
1. When you download pictures to you PC, rather than copy, select move; or
2. If you want to erase one picture at a time from the camera - press on the power button, then menu button, once menu is displayed, arrow down/up, you will be asked to erase the picture displayed, select yes/no by up/down, then press OK (menu button); or
3. If you want to erase all contents of the memory card of the camera - press on the power button, then menu button, once menu is displayed, arrow right, down to select card, right to select card setup, right to enter card setup, arrow down to select format or erase all, OK. Erase all just erases the files, format erases all and re-initialize the memory card; or
4. Remove memory card from camera and insert into a memory card reader attached to USB of your PC. The memory from the camera will be treated as a removable device and you can view, move, copy, delete/erase, format. This option seems to be most effective in viewing all contents under Windows Explorer with the view setting set to Thumbnail.
5. Connect the camera via the supplied cable to any USB port of your PC. The camera will be treated as a removable device and you can view, move, copy, delete/erase, format. This option seems to be most effective in viewing all contents under Windows Explorer with the view setting set to Thumbnail.

Specifically for an Olympus FE-230:
1. Press the < or > buttons to display the picture you want to erase;
2. Press the trash can button (bottom right);
3. Press the UP button to select [YES], press OK;

or

To erase all:
1. Press the MENU button to display the top menu in playback mode;
2. Select [ERASE], [ALL ERASE], and press OK;
3. Select [YES], and press OK

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
