Question about GoVideo Go Video DVD/VCR Combo

GO VIDEO UNIT

Whenever I try to play a disc, I load the disc into tray and it says "NO DISC" even thought the disc is inserted properly. I've tried several prerecorded disc like from Netflix. I go to neighbors house and it works fine .. take it back home and get NO DISC. Think GoVideo is out of business. Any thoughts other than trashing the unit? My Go-Video DVD/VCR combo freezes up and/or pixelates about halfway through all movies(not home-made,mostly Netfix. What can i do ,other than trash it?

Hello Isabelisa,
You should try to clean the Lense of the DVD. Many DVDs have this problam and it is due to dust or some dirt on the lense.
Try some lense cleaner.

see if the player tries to read the disc. Load a disc and listen.
    Does
the player make squealing noises or is it totally quiet? Squealing
noises may indicate that the player is trying to synchronize with the
disc but can't due to an obstruction on the lens or in the laser path
inside the pickup or a defect in the pickup. This can also be caused by
an intermittent signal problem due to a faulty ribbon cable.

    Totally
silent means that the photo sensor is not getting any usable input from
the laser at all, meaning that the pickup is "blind" for lack of a
    better word.
This can be caused by an obstruction of the beam by
foreign matter on the lens or inside the pickup all the way to a
marginal or failed laser diode and/or photosensor array. This can also
be caused by a bad ribbon cable with one or more severed traces.

    You
could try to clean the optics. This is the most common malfunction as
far as i know in all disc players. It would involve taking the cover
off and finding a way to expose the lense, and then cleaning it with a
very gentle brush. some players have a cover for the lense that swings
to the side during playing, this greatly reduces the chance of dust
accumulating, but its still worth the try.

If you actually see dust on the lense, then its just that simple. clean, close, play.

If you still face the problem then the only solution is to get it repaired or replaced.

Hello
According to your description, it seems that the disc tray is not loading into it porperly i thinks. Just do one thing. Without any disc in tray, close the tray either by using remote control or the front panel opn/close button of the system. If the tray closes first, and then reopens again without any command, make sure that the disc tray mechanism does not working properly, and the disc is not loading into it in place.
If this is alright, place a disc in the tray, set close, and push the tray with your finger slightly as it closes, and see whether it loads properly and play the disc. If so, loading belt inside the loading mechanism is worn out, ans should be replaced. In most cases, this may be the fault. Check it.
You can do the repair work, if you have some knoledge in electroncis, and its mechanical function. If not, get it repaired by an experienced service technican. Most of them can do this work, as it is simply a mechanical one. OK.

Does not play when disc entered nor when play is selected. (XD-E500KB)

Hello

Push in the plug connected to the "Video Out" jack on the rear of the Dvd to ensure it is connected firmly. Check the connection at the back of the TV as well.

Press the "Source" or "Input" button on the TV remote to verify the television's input is set to the DVD connection.

Press the "open/close" button on the front of the DVD to open the disc tray. Insert and test different DVDs to determine if the problem is with a specific disc, or if the player will not operate.

Eject the DVD tray and insert the DVD laser lens cleaner. Close the tray and wait a few seconds for the cleaning disc to load. Press "Play" on the front control panel to spin the disc through the cleaning cycle.

Remove the cleaning disc, insert a DVD and test playback operation. If the machine still will not play discs, the main receiver unit may require internal repairs best left to an experienced technician.

Ps3 will not play disc

Hi there,

You better do disc cleaning on the unit. It seems that the optical lens is dirty and cannot read any disc you insert. On this you may need a disc cleaner to clean the unit lens.

Hope this helps

Dvd video player

Your DVD player is having a problem reading the disc. This is what is accounting for the pausing and the slow loading times...especially if it plays other movies without hitches. Even if the DVD is cleaned, some scratching on the disc will prevent it from being viewed properly. Blockbuster shoudl give you another disc to try of the same movie if you ask. Also, you can try getting a cleaner for your DVD player to remove dust and help it read discs better.
