Hi,

93 octane is already suitable for that car.

There must be something else?

Usually "pinking" came from...... a less power of combustion, during combustion there is a leak that causes less power, setting of timing, gap seting of spark plug, and engine can't reach the minimum temperature.

Better have a tune up first, to check on those things that I suggested.

Even if you use a fuel additive booster, can not fix those things that i said.

Hope that helps you out!

I accidently put super unleaded gas.on my VW beetle 2002

That is not a problem it is actually recommended that you use premium 93-94 Octane fuel, if you put turbo blue (115) in it that would be a problem but 93-94 octane is the VW recommended fuel type.

My son put regular gasoline in my 98 deville; will this cause the car to run rough and if so what can i do? p.s. i also went out that same day and put ultra 93. have i damaged my car

Your car is and will be fine - the lower octane fuel just predisposes the engine to
pre-ignition pinging (you don't want to make a habit of it, but its no big deal). Plus, by diluting
it with Ultra 93 octane, you raised the overall octane of the fuel in the tank to somewhere
around (87+93) /2 = 90. Happy motoring.

Does the 09 es350 need 93 octane gas or will it run on 87 octane

you should have a factory affixed sticker inside gas compartment cover listing premium fuel only or also listed in your owners manual. Otherwise if you notice that you're vehicle is making a pinging sound while accelerating or climbing a hill for instance then you may want to step up to 89 or 93 octane and try to avoid purchasing fuel with ethanol added it's **** and degrades your fuel quality/octane ratio

Do i need to burn premium fuel in a 2005 nissan pathfinder?

midgrade is fine 89 octane fuel recommended,no ethanol please. ok to burn 93 octane, better fuel mileage though. you will find that 89 octane fuel will do the job of performance, but 93 octane will go the further distance,as far as mileage is concerned. hope this helps, and thank you for choosing fixya.com

I am told the timing chains are loose. The engine makes almost pinging type noise when accellerating at low speeds or uphill. How is this fixed and at what cost? What if problem is left unresolved?

the engine is pinking thats all ,use a higher grade fuel ,it should run on 95 octane but try it on 98 octane and this will cure it .timing chains loose ?? i think this mechanic needs to go back to school

What octane fuel used in 98 Cadillac 4.6

having over 30 years with general motors and 10 with cadillac the standard 87 octane can be used in your northstar engine
premium is noted on the dash cluster to the owner of course for the price they paid for a 300 horsepowered engine seems they octane should be using the highest made octane to use. it is another bad reflection from general motors in their part. I owned a 96 de ville and always ran 87 octane and took it out west in 98. I cruised at 90 mph through Nevada and received 29 mpg

Knocking on petrol

its pinking which means the timing is too far advanced ,try 98 octane petrol .what year is vehicle as older engines were designed to run on higher octane petrol.like a MK2 jag or austin westminster need 101 octane.whats happening is the petrol has a lower anti knock additive than higher octane ,although the petrol is the same flame rate of burn its the amount of anti knock additive which gives it its octane value.just check timing and if a distributor is fitted ****** it a bit i would suggest 8 btdc but if still pinks on low grade then 6btdc
