Kenmore 54501 Dehumidifier

We have used a drain hose for a few years that drains the humidifier into our sump pump. All of a sudden the bucket fills up instead of the water draining through the hose. What do I do?

Why is my Kenmore Energy Star 50 pint model 251-50501012 dehumidifier leaking water after I disconnected the drain hose

If you reconnect the drain hose, make sure that it lays flat from the dehumidifier and into the sump pump hole. I did that and it solved my problem of water leaking onto the floor.

Hose is connected to dispose water but bucket fills up

First check that the opening from bucket to hose is clear of obstructions. If you used a washing machine hose and the filter screen is still in the end of the hose, then replace the screen with an ordinary hose gasket.

A gel-like growth can develop in the drain hose. Drain the bucket. Remove the hose and connect it to an outdoor faucet to flush the hose. Reconnect the hose using an ordinary hose gasket.

How do I install a hose so this humidifier drains automatically?

Look at the drain pan, it might have a garden hose connection that you might have to knock out, mine is not the same model but it may be similiar, and then run it to a floor drain or such. Good Luck

/my dehumidifier has a hose attachment on the back. how does that work?

The hose attachment is used in place of the water collection bucket, to drain the water directly into a floor drain or a sump pump holding tank. A garden hose is connected to the "hose attachment" and run to the floor drain or sump pump holding tank. However, it will not drain UP, only DOWN.

Hope this helped.

Water leaks out of the bottom of the humidifier and the bucket does not fill up. The water just leaks out.

Based upon my experience with the same problem on my Kenmore 54701 last summer: The condensate water collects in a plastic pan below the coils. This pan has a single drain hole where the water flows down into the bucket. When I suddenly found water puddling on the floor instead of in the bucket, I opened up the unit, and I found that the collection pan's drain hole had become blocked by "bioslime". I cleaned out the goo from the drain hole, and the problem was solved.

50 pint dehumidifier has drain hose connected but fills up the drain bucket and stops running....

safety switch is turning off the dehumidifier....you need to drain out the bucket more often....or put the drain hose into an actual drain....ive seen some people run a small plastic hose from the dehumidifier to the sump pump hole in their basement.

Bucket fills instead of going down the drain

You may have an unintentional trap in the line (an up and down up and down. Hose has to lay flat on floor to drain.

I have a Kenmore 54501 dehumidifier

hi,

somewhere there is a "knockout" or "plug" or something similar you have to remove or replace it to get it to drain through the hose, there should be some documentation in the owners manual about it, try troubleshooting in the back of the manual. If not look directly into the hose outlet and see if theres a plastic plug there, if there is use a screwdriver or something similar to GENTLY remove the plug, you may have to just study the machine when its running to get a better idea of how the water drains, maybe the machine came with something like it in one of the plastic bags the accessories came in.

good luck
