Question about Samsung (SP0411N) 40 GB Hard Drive

Hard disk data recovery from a bad sector

Hi,

I bought a hard disk with 200 GB capacity, and tried to back up my old Samsung SP0411N.

While carrying it to connect it to another pc with the new hard disk, it accidentally fell from my hand. :~/

It had 6 partitions (C:/, D:/, E:/, F:/, G:/, H:/).
When I connected it, drive G: was all wiped out, which was okay.
C:/, D:/, E:/ and F:/ were all working.

And the H:/ drive was erased partially.

I absolutely NEED the lost data in the H:/ drive.
Is it possible for me to maybe map the data in the bad sectors of H:/ drive to another working partition?
Or to recover the data in any way, with a software if required?

Please help me.
I'll be grateful for any help.

Only store file on the drive not programs. Working program cause to much ware and tare on the external drives. And a partition on a driver that has programs running from it works real hard because it moving file from two sectors of the drive at the same time. When I was trying to boot the system the following error is getting flashed on my screen and asking me to press F4 to continue. pri master hard disk: S.M.A.R.T. command failed

this is a warning your hard drive is about to fail
you could run the check disk utility
click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to repair any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive
hope this helps

Many Bad Sectors fat32, trying recovery disk

Hi,

It sounds like your HDD is faulty, usually a hardrive can operate with bad sectors but still a risk.

My best advice would be to get a new HDD and recover back on to the new one, even if you did manage to recover onto your current one you may still have problems in the future.

I usually only allow a HDD to fail S.M.A.R.T tests 3 times over any given period and then I just replace them.

Thanks

Unable to delete data or format or partitioning samsung HDD

Have you tried booting from a Windows XP CD? If you have one available you can boot from it, delete the partition and format it. Works all the time for me.

Remove the bad sector from samsung sp0411n

Although A format could help it sounds more like you have some bad sectors on the harddrive.

Right click on the drive, select properties, then select the tools menu and initiate a disk check. it will give you an option screen before it proceeds, select the option to scan for a recover bad sectors/clusters. This will write off and mark the bad sectors so they will not be used again. If the problem comes back again soon then your palette media is failing and you should replace the drive.

Good luck and let us know how you make out,

Chris

Scandisk(or whatever) should mark those sectors as bad, thus preventing them from being used. But no, you cannot erase them, they are physical areas of your disk that cannot properly hold data. Bad sectors are not uncommon, and nothing to be alarmed about, but a loud hard drive is...

SAMSUNG IDE HDD SP0411N (40GB)

Hi,

Three possible reasons:
1. Your IDE cable is defective or is not seated/plug in correctly. Try to replace or re-seat/re-insert;
2. The on-board disk management of the hard disk is corrupted/defective. There is no remedy except to replace the PCboard or the entire hard disk;
3. Your motherboard BIOS/CMOS needs to be flashed and/or something is wrong with the IDE interface.

Of the 3, # 1 is the most common.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

good luck and kind regards.
