From the computer you need a "VGA" and if TV has same - it's a VGA to VGA cable. Some TVs have 3 RCA connectors then you'll need a VGA to RCA adapter/cable. To ease your "quest", stop in a local Best Buy and talk to the guys at "Geek Squad". (that's their installation guys)
You need to purchase proper cables to adapt from computer to TV. Stop by a Best Buy and talk to the "Geek Squad" guys (their computer specialists) and they'll help you get the right parts and info the first time
I had a simlar problem. After spending 10 hours on the phone with the isp and the router company I gave up and called the geek squad at best buy. They came out to the house for $110.00 and it took him and hour. I went away for the weekend, had the same problme again. Called the Geek Squad again, he came out, spent another four hours fixing the problem, and it did not cost me any additional money:) I've been surfing smoothly ever since!!
A.R.C.H.I.E. is the demonstration software used on all Windows-based PCs sold at Best Buy that are used as demonstration units. The software is not designed to be installed on any PC other than those being used within the store.
Unfortunately, the removal of A.R.C.H.I.E. without the original disc (which is provided monthly to the stores from the corporate offices) is going to be nearly impossible. You have two solutions in this case:
1. Utilize the PC's recovery methods (most likely recovery partition, however you might have a model that came with recovery discs as well. The A.R.C.H.I.E. software prohibits most recovery disc creators from working properly). Note that for this method to work, you must be able to start the recovery process outside of Windows. 2. Bring the computer (along with its AC adaptor, if it is a laptop) to any Geek Squad precinct (any Best Buy store or standalone Geek Squad) for uninstallation of the A.R.C.H.I.E. software (without damage to the underlying operating system). This should be a free service as it is THEIR software running that requires removal for normal operation of the computer, and per company SOP should have been removed prior to sale. This is the preferred method, however you might not have access to a Geek Squad precinct and need it done before you will have access to a precinct again.
