The LCD screen on my Nikon Coolpix L11 looks like a black set of lips with cracks on either side. I just picked it up one day, turned it on and there it was. What is the problem, and more importantly, what is the fix? Thanks in advance, John
I have the exact same problem, small crack that looks like black lips. The screen worked fine for about a month after it happened, now my screen turns on but stays gray. Ive only had the camera for 6 mo, so i really want this fixed!

Mine has also broken. The screen is stays black and you can see the cracks underneath the glass in the lcd.
Since the camera doesn't have a viewfinder, you have to "guess" where to point/aim when you take photos. Camera was not dropped or bumped. It just broke.

Chances are the LCD screen has failed and would have to be replaced. (ive seen this screen problem when it goes to white or when cracked)
you basically would have 3 options,
1: send it out for repairs to Nikon? ( see if it is still in warranty or may cost close to what you paid) 2: Buy a used or new LCD on an auction site (if your gadget savvy and you can replace yourself) avg price 50-75? 3: sell your camera on an auction site to use funds to purchase another camera.
It came with a warranty from nikon in the box the warranty is good for one year, but good luck I just sent mine out for that problem and they said I did it to my camera, it looked like the screen had shattered and were going to charge me 73 dollars and change to fix it. I only paid 100. for the camera, but it is worth the shipping it might be there error on the gray screen one. If you warranty is still good. And if you paid for it with a credit card at best buy they can pull up an old reciept for you. as long as you know a round about date I also did that.
I have the same problem right now. It was fine last night, and when I woke up it was cracked, now it looks like a black sunset. I've only had it for 5 months and I need to get it fixed, but I have no idea where to take it. I bought it from best buy, but I didn't buy the warranty or anything, will they still fix it? I'll pay.

If it looks like a crack, it is a crack. You may not feel it because the internal screen is protected by an outer screen. Pressure of some type is usually the cause of cracked screens. This is an expensive repair.
I think you need to replace the screen module, from your description of the fault. The 'part behind the screen' IS the LCD module - the front part is for protection. As you can still take pictures and store image files, it is just the screen at fault.
Will the camera lens come out when the camera is turned on?
Can you still take a photo/flash/sound without seeing the photo?
