Hi
Check the following,
  • Speakers, connecting cables and Sound Card are working fine by connecting to another computer.
  • OR
  • If the connection ok increase your volume and open the cable from the pc.
Now you will touch the stereo jack, can you can listen a sound when touch the jack. If you will not get any sound, think there is the problem in your amplifier or audio system has not any voltage. To confirm the voltage check by multi miter or can go any local Technician .If the voltage is ok, think your sound system defected and should go to Technician.

  • If your sound system is ok
  • Speaker Cable connect to an audio port (Audio/Video port in system box).
  • Ensure Volume is not in MUTE / Low (in Volume Controller).
  • Audio drivers have installed.
  • To confirm follow next step or ROLL BACK THE DRIVER
http://technet.microsoft.com/hi-in/library/bb457021%28en-us%29.aspx For another check follow the Steps:
• Go to Start>
• Control panel>
• Double click on "System" Icon> (it shows the System PropertiesWindow)
• Select "Hardware" Tab>
• Select "Device Manager" Tab> (it shows the Device Manager Window)
• Select "Sound, video and game controllers">
• Expand "+" symbol> (check the audio Codec's, Legacy Audio Drivers andothers are not in Questioned Mark (?) symbol with yellow color. If there needto install the drivers). So please go there website>supports>download For download Suppose, you need driver for, ASUSK8V-VM
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us Product =Mother Board So Series = (Socket NO.eg. 754etc.) So Model = (Model no will beK8v-vm) And please select the O.S (XP/ VISTA / WINDOWS 7) version of the drivers that matches yourP.C and search. Now you can download easilyone after one. Hope it will help you.

My grandad has bought a computer and i tryed to show him how to play a dvd but no sound was playing. I found out there was no sound card? I dont actually know what this means but surely a computer should...

If there is no sound card. Probably it was disabled the sound and maybe there is no really sound card was installed. To make it short buy a PCI sound card, turn off your computer and install the card to PCI slot and turn on your computer and your computer will detect that there is a found new hardware. Ignore it and insert the cd installer and install the driver of your sound card. If it's ask you to restart just restart your computer to update its system. In case that there is a built in sound on your computer check your motherboard model and search for the driver from their official website and download and install, if you download the correct driver it will automatically installed your sound and your sound will be working. Have a nice day!

A distorted sound is coming from my speakers even if i connect speakers

It is a possibility that you are getting feedback from a device that is near by. Possibly a cell phone or other device. I would recommend moving the computer to a different location and removing all electronic devices from beside the computer, then reconnecting speakers.

It is also possible that you have a bad sound card. If that is the case, you will need to purchase another sound card and replace the old one. I have included instructions on how to replace your sound card below:

Here is a site where you can purchase the sound card you may be in need of:
http://www.meritline.com/laptop-sound-card-usb-port---p-39078.aspx?source=nextaghdac

There are other sites such as Ebay where you can also purchase the sound card. The type of sound card you need is a PCMCIA Sound Card for an Acer Laptop.

Here are instructions on how to install a new sound card:
Installing a PCMCIA Sound Card in Your Acer Laptop
  1. Step 1 Locate the PCMCIA card slot on your computer. On an Acer laptop, the slot may be either on the left or the right side of the laptop.
  2. Step 2 Remove the PCMCIA card cover by pressing the "Eject" button and pulling the cover out.
  3. Step 3 Insert your PCMCIA sound card with the connectors facing in and the upper label facing up. Some PCMCIA cards will have an arrow to make it easier to orient the card correctly.
  4. Step 4 Press the PCMCIA card gently into place.
  5. Step 5 Windows will recognize the PCMCIA card and search for the needed software.
  6. Step 6 If your sound card came with an installation CD, insert it in the CD slot and follow the instructions to install applications and utilities for use with your new sound card.
Installing a USB Sound Card in Your Acer Laptop
  7. Step 1 Turn the computer on.
  8. Step 2 Plug the USB sound card into the appropriate USB plug on your laptop.
  9. Step 3 Wait for the computer to recognize the new USB device.
  10. Step 4 Insert the sound card manufacturer's CD if prompted to do so.
If a sound card is not the issue, then you possibly have circuitry issues on your laptop motherboard. For this issue, you may need to consult a certified technician at your local computer repair shop.

(If you are not a professional or are used to opening your laptop, I would recommend taking it to a local computer repair shop for a certified technician to look at this issue. Do bare in mind if you have a warranty, opening your laptop and not being a certified professional would void any warranty agreement you have with your manufacturer)

I have hooked up my computer to my surround sound system and now i get a loud buzzing sounds I have bought new rca checked eveything even hooled it up to a diff one ..then the tv I can't get rid of it..i...

The buzzing sound could be from what they call a Ground Loop.
This is cause by plugging in Hi Fi and computer devices etc. into different mains power sockets.
The way around this is to use a power board and connect all your devices into the power board and plug the power board into a single power socket.

New video card installed lost audio

Hi,
I had the same problem, but it was easily fixed. The problem is not really uncommon -- the new video card tries to take over your PC sound as well as your graphics -- and they don't give you any heads up or options about it. Assuming you want to use your new card, the other advice in the previous post is not helpful -- removing the drivers through a System Restore will make your card useless.
One of the first questions you need to find out is if you are getting your sound on board through the Mother Board or through a sound card. One quick and simple way that might work is go into your Control Panel for sound, go to Audio, and under Sound Playback
try to restore your old sound setting.

If that doesn't work, you can look under your Device Manager (For XP, right click on My Computer, click on Properties, and click on Hardware, then go into the Device Manager). Look for the sound section and check for conflicts. Also right-click on your old default sound settings and try to re-install them or check for hardware changes. Then re-boot the system.
If that fails, then go into your PC Setup when the computer is first powered on. (usually by pressing the Esc key or one of the F keys, depending on your computer brand). Be careful with what you change since this can totally mess up your system if you are like a bull in a china shop. Where your sound section is, change the setting to "On" for onboard motherboard sound, instead of Off or Auto. That cured my problem instantly.

No sound in my computer

There might be number of reasons
1) check your sound drivers are good. Start-->run--> type devmgmt.msc and check if u can see any yellow mark on sound devices
2) in control panel go to volume control and check if wave bar in not at bootom or mute button is not checked.
3) Go to start-->run--> type services.msc, check in windows audio if service is not stopped if its is then restart this service.
Hope it helps !!

Sound not coming out of the rear or center speakers

Sort of confused a bit I understand you buying a new system you say the sound does not come out the rear and centre speakers does the sound come out of any spearkers other than the two you mention if it is then your wirings are wrong if the sound is not coming out of any speakers then its the sound card BUT you will know this immediately you disconnect that system. The sound would be coming out of the laptop ordinaryly? which is it?
