Question about Samsung HCM4216W 42" Rear Projection Television
My set shuts itself off after a period ranging from minutes to hours. No normal "deedle deedle" shut-down sound----it just goes completely off. It will always turn back on, but it may take several attempts. Any ideas?
Sounds like a solder issue on the main deflection board. Check for signs of cracked or dull solder on that board. Its the large board on the right looking in from the back

Do not block rear Fan exhaust port. A minimum of a 2 inch clearance is necessary.
If the Fan Exhaust port is blocked, the temperature will rise in the Engine assembly and cause a thermal switch to activate, shutting off the unit.
After a cool down period and the set is unplugged for greater than 30 seconds, the set will return to normal operation.
