Question about Kenmore Progressive Bagless Upright with Inteli-Clean SystemVacuum

I purchased a hoover windtunnel 2 model#u8361900 in Dec 2007.I am very disappointed because the self cleaning filter is not turning and particles keep clogging in that area. I have manually removed the particles but the filter will not turn.I also haven't been able to use the pet brush for some time.The cleaner has not been used hard about once a week since it was purchased.I am not happy that this product has stopped working effiently since purchased 6 months ago. The filter stands up right.the bottom goes in first then snap in the top.turn it by hand and you should hear it click if you have it in right

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. I sorry you are having a problem with the Hoover WindTunnel Vacuum Model #U8361-900 but I never heard of a filter that you say is self cleaning and NOT turning. I have never seen a filter that turns inside the chamber, the dust and dirt basically go around and circulate around the filter and you can clean the filter by either brushing it off, vacuuming it off or using some type of brush to clean off the filter such as and old paint brush or if you have some type of blower system – that would work as well. You said your vacuum is less than one year old so I would contact your local factory authorized Hoover dealer in your area or to cal the cust serv @ the Hoover factory listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hoover windtunnel self-propelled - will not turn on


You probably need the switch replaced. It's fairly simple to do youself, and it is a known problem with these vacuums.
You can order the switch from hoover for about $10

Hoover Windtunnel shuts down after 15 minutes


Might be that its not exausting enough heat & stutting its self down..

Try cleaning all the filters & the hepa filter..
This will increase air flow & maybe fix the issue..

Burning smell coming from vacuum


use a penny to turn the 2 screws on top a quater turn then fold down the vacuum and lift up the cover and you will have access to the belt. Clean the small hepa filter with soapy water. their may be 2 of them. The cannnister filters need to be shaken but not washed. Good luck.

Clogged hepa filter


If the hepa filter is clogged chances are it is not turning like it is supposed to. Hoover apperantly has a terrible R&D department because this is a bad unit. The filter is supposed to be self cleaning because it spins and a little tab is supposed to knock out dirt but does a crappy job of that. The transmission is what spins the filter and this must be replaced. If in warranty take it to your local Best Buy for service.

No suction


have u checked all of the filters. I know that when not all the filters r clean the machine will turn on but then it will sound louder and still have no suction. Most times there is a filter under dirt container thats sits above motor and if this filter is not clean the motor cannot breath. Thus no suction

Hoover doesn't suck well


Did you check the inlet from the bottom? Take the bottom plate off, make sure that the tube(inlet)is free of any clogs. Also if the belt is stretched, then it won't drive the brush roll like it should, replace it part #38528033.
