I jus bought a toshiba laptop a15 s1292 from a thrift store and soon as i turn it on its asking for a password what do i do

Depending on the Windows version is installed:

- or if anything else didn't work you can use thrid party software from Hiren's Boot CD to reset the password (there are several programs you can use there NTPWD, Offline NT Password Changer 2010-06-27, or Password Renew 1.1).
