Good Day,

This may sound strange but has any aftermarket parts been put on the car since? If you have put on a fiberglass body kit and or fiberglass doors, this will cut down am reception. Another possibilty is if a high output ignition was installed this too would reduce reception. Was the head unit replaced?

Let me know what has or hasn't been done to the car since you bought it and we can run down the possibility.

Good Luck
Hope this helps

I have a 95 vw golf replaced battery now radio no workie is there some kind of code i need to get it to work and where do i get it

Hi,

When you disconnect the battery the radio needs a security code to reactivate it.

You can get this code from a local VW dealer using the VIN of the car (wil be on your registration document for the car) and the serial number of the radio. You will have to remove the radio from the dash to find the serial which is on a label at the back of the radio.

There may be a charge for this from the dealer. However, if you wish you can post up all numbers found on the label of the radio as some but not all of these VW radios can be decoded by serial.

If yours is one of these I will see if anything can be done so let me know.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Fitted new 6000cd aerial to 04 reg Mondeo, cant get reception any ideas please.

Can only be the coax input to the radio. Often the fault is that the soldered end is faulty at either the radio or the aerial end. If you have a voltmeter, check for shorts by putting each cable to the inner and outer coax wires. They should not be touching. If they are and the two ends are clear of each other it is likely a cracked cable inside. The easiest fix is to just use 12V wire or coax - as long as the two coax plugs are connected to the inner and outer, you will get a connection the the aerial. If you are getting ZERO reception then it is likely the cable is shot. Even if the aerial isnt connected, the cable itself should act as an antenna.

I plugged the car stereo and it looks like has power. A red light is on and I can put a CD on it and take it out but the rest doesn't work.no lights, no sound, nothing. It could be broken or just wrong...

most likely an internal problem but check the wires first, the yellow off the radio should be the 12 v ignition and the red should be the 12v constant, black ground of course, also if you had wires you didnt need to hook up make sure they aren't by accident

How to remove radio from a vw golf

THE VW RADIO REQUIRES A SPECIAL STEREO REMOVAL TOOL THAT WAS DESIGNED FOR FORD. IT IS A "U" SHAPED TOOL WITH TWO KNOBS ON EITHER END. IT CAN BE PURCHASED ALMOST ANYWHERE THAT STEREO EQUIPMENT IS SOLD. ONCE INSERTED IN THE FOUR HOLES IN THE FRONT OF THE STEREO IT SHOULD PULL RIGHT OUT .

UNLOCK CODE

I believe Vw dealerships are obliged to provide this FOC. Scince you already have the seriel number, it will be very simple for your local dealer to give to the code.
