These TVs can not be turned off, ever! This is a very common issue with these sets. It has something to do with an internal capacitor. I've found the best solution is to place a heavy blanket over the set to block the light at night. Great TV for the price if you can live with the fact that it can never be powered off.

I had the same problem with mine (same model) purchased Oct. 2010. I also have a Sharp 52 LCD. I was using an HDMI Splitter purchased from Monoprice to slave the Toshiba to the HD output of Dish's VIP722 receiver, because the 722 outputs only one HD video signal and on a separate RG6 connector outputs standard definition for a second display. Well, as the bedroom TV is usually tuned to the same channel as the family room TV, I decided slaving the VIP722 HD output was a better solution than paying Dish a monthly fee for a second receiver. To shorten this story; the problem seemed to be caused by the HDMI splitter. I purchase a higher price splitter from Comp USA and when I connected it the problem disappeared. I hope this helps you. Oh, I feed the outputs of the splitter to two separate Yamaha (models 667 and 367) AV amps and from the amps to the TVs.

I just got his for Christmas and mine will not turn off either, when I hit the remote or the power button on the side of the tv, It turns off then, back on within a few seconds, IT can not be turned off.

Samsung TV model LN32A450C1DXZA, after turning the TV on it will turn itself off shortly after and then turn itself back on shortly thereafter. Then it repeats that several times before staying on.

Hi there,

If the tv is still under warranty, this can be repaired at no charge.

However, if not under warranty, you will need to have the CAPACITORS on the main power supply circuit board tested (or replaced).

The capacitors responsible for the power supply can sometimes fail - open the back panel. If the capacitors on the main power supply board look too fat, or signs of burning near the solder joints, then you've found the problem.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

LG TV KEEPS TURNING OFF

Kindly do not keep attempting to turn it on, as you are likely to spoil some other boards/parts/components of the TV. Look for any loose contacts in power out let, RC jack, cable and socket. In order to ensure, it is not caused by the input device, connect a DVD player
and see. Switch off TV, switch off power, remove plug and wait for 48 hours and retry.
If problem persists, I suggest it is better to refer it to a qualified service technician, since the back cover has to be opened for investigation/rectification.

Hi, i have a pace sky digibox box switching itself off

Well every time you switch off the power the digibox returns to the factory default settings. The power must be maintained to keep those settings. There may be another brand that has battery back up to maintain the selected channels. Check with your owners manual to see if yours does have that feature. It continues to draw a very tiny current as long as it is plugged into power. There is no solution except a battery back up or leave it plugged in all the time.

HP-R5052 reboot

It's definitely an overheating problem if your plasma turns off by itself after a while. I would suggest to place a cooling fan near the back of it as a temporary fix.
There could be a power supply issue along with a Ysustainer board but in order to know that for sure, you should use a hair drier and blow hot air to the power supply and see if the TV turns off, if the time that the tv turns off is shorter when blowing hot air to the power supply; then is the power supply issue.
Good Luck.

Zenith 27inch B28A11Z keeps powering itself off

Hi Pswglaw,

From the way you describe the problem, it seems you have a high voltage leak. To check this, make the room dark and look into the back of the TV while turning it on. If you see something like lighting jumping around you have this high voltage problem. The TV will eventually destroy itself under this condition. I would suggest not using it until you get it repaired. The repair cost will be much lower if the TV is still working when you take it in. The high voltage leak will destroy more parts and cause the TV to stop working. Then it will blow a fuse.
