First try to boot into safe mode usually F8 will give most bios this option. Then run your antivirus. If you don't have any try free AVG and free AdAware from download.com. I'm pretty sure your will want to turn off "System restore" before running Virus/Spyware software because that is actually a back up of your system. You don't want to remove the intruder and then let it loose again from system restore. Also remember to delete all Temporary Internet files/cookies and Prefetch files. Empty Recycle bin and run scans while in safe mode.
Good luck...

You will have to try to run a removal program on your system before trying to restore it since the bug is probably saved and will reinstall over and over again.
Worst case, you may have to buy an antivirus package or risk losing any or all of your own work.
You absolutely need to install the 'Restricted Sites' list (available at several sites on line) to avoid ending up at dangerous sites such as the one that installed your current problem.
Windows Defender is free (from MS website) and along with an antivirus program will afford you further protection.

Running 'naked' is not an option.

Laptop infected by W32/Blaster.worm

Hi oteyolasamue...
To remove a virus, trojan, worm, etc from your computer...do it the EASY way...let someone else do it for you.
Start your computer, as the computer is starting keep tapping the F8 Key.
This will start the computer in the Safe Mode.
Once in the safe mode go to the following webage below and download, install, and run Microsoft Safety Scanner for FREE.
Once you run the Microsoft Safety Scanner (it may take quite a while depending on the size of your hard drive) it will remove all the virus's,trojans, worms, etc it finds, if it does not completely remove them all you will be given a chance to chat with a Microsoft Professional thru a pop open window and he will take control of your computer (with your permission) and finish removing all the rest of the virus's, trojans, or worms that are on your computer for FREE!! Can't beat FREE!!
You have a virus, worm, trojan, etc on your computer.
Go to the following website and download, install and run the FREE Microsoft Safety Scanner.

What is symantec antivirus??????????

Symantec/Norton AntiVirus (SAV for Windows, NAV for Mac OS X) is a virus protection program distributed by the Symantec Corporation, offering effective protection features, including infected file quarantine, online virus protection updates, and an automatic scheduler. SAV/NAV is designed to start running as soon as your computer's operating system starts. It runs in the background, checking all vulnerable files for possible infection by malevolent programs called viruses and worms. SAV/NAV does this by looking for the identifying signatures of these worms and viruses and comparing them to known viruses for which it has files. When it detects an infected file, it notifies you and manages the infection according to your preferences.

I have an older Dell 8100 that is infected, I cannot use it.

It might be really what it says, but chances are you have accidentally started a "fake virus scam" malware, that acts a bit like a virus, but with an added function of luring you into paying for some miraculous anti-virus, that will cure your computer of the multiple "infections" it has allegedly "discovered".
If you can open Internet Explorer, you may try one of the online virus scanners available. If not, the only thing left is to prepare on a clean computer a startup antivirus CD, from which you could boot your computer and run an antivirus program.

Free Online scanners:
http://www.f-secure.com/en_EMEA/security/tools/online-scanner/

Free boot antivirus products (CD image to burn):

Please come back with a testimonial if helped :)

My hotmail wont let me send any messages this is what it says when im trying to this account is currently blocked from sending messages, what can i do to solve this?

The message is coming from hotmail and not your computer.
for some reason hotmail has blocked your email account. This happens sometimes when your email account gets compromised usually due to a virus or worm. you have to contact hotmail support. If its due to a virus or worm they're going to tell you to remove it first and they may not reactivate the account again. But first try changing your password if that doesn't work use the Windows Live Validation Page to reset your password https://windowslivehelp.com/PasswordReset.aspx

Good luck

Shutdown countdown frequently

Hi there!
This is due to "worms" infecting your system. Remove the HardDisk & put it in another computer having a good anti-virus like Mcafee or Kaspersky. Scan your hard disk & disinfect it. (Note other solutions also exist but this solution is FATAL to the worm)
Please rate this advice as it's very important for us!
Good luck friend!

Restting a desktop due to virus or worm

get rid of Macafee, it wont help

restore to the earliest point you can, will minimize the spread of the virus then

use an online scanner like http://www.pandasoftware.com/ActiveScan/
and install
AVG free http://free.grisoft.com
Avast free http://www.avast.com or
FProt
or another av system that works,
Macafee and Norton are definitely counterindicated

system restore should be reset to the maximum disk space allowable, the tweaks espoused by many, of reducing disk space for system restore causes problems like this.
resetting the restore size will not magically replace missing system restore points, they are gone, but will give you more days worth of repair time in future, it will happen again.
