The device probably isn't compatible with Vista, or device could be formatted wrong file system. Check manufacturer's website for any updates.

Hello,

I have got two possible problems in my mind. One is that your laptop does not meet optimal cirteria for using Windows 7. Especially if you keep original 2GB RAM. But I do not thing this would cause problems as you described.

The second one, as you mentiond, you need to update the drivers too. From the Sony's point of view, they do not support Win 7 in this laptop, so they do not provide any drivers.

What should be done to upgrade to windows 7 HP P2050 Series j510a

Are you using a new computer or doing an OS upgrade?

For a new computer, before you connect the printer's USB cable to the computer, download the full software package from HP's site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=4027469& . Select whether you have the 32-bit or 64-bit OS and click Next. Expand the section marked Driver and select the full software package. After downloading, install the software. You will need to accept the UAC warning.

When prompted to do so, connect the USB cable. If you do not install the HP software first, you will get a Windows generic driver that will let you print but not enable the other features of the all-in-one. The HP basic driver will work but won't let you launch a scan from the all-in-one.

If you are upgrading your OS, then it depends on the type of upgrade. From Vista to Win7, with matching versions (both 64-bit Home or both 32-bit Business/Pro), just make sure to install any updates. If you are doing a different upgrade, disconnect the USB cable and treat it as a new computer.

I hope this helps.

You must set this program to install and run in "Compatibility Mode" for windows 95.
Right click on the installer setup exe and choose run in compatibility mode and check for Win '95. Do the same for the main EXE of the program too, also make sure you run BOTH as "Administrator"

I intalled windows vista on my laptop but i cant get any sound driver to work with it

I have an HP DV1150US, and just bought a Toshiba M305D, 64 bit dual core AMD laptop with Vista. You are actually "Downgrading" by going to Vista, your DV machine doesn't have the CPU power or memory (unless you spent several hundred dollars to bump up the RAM).   If you bought the software with a credit card, return it (they will say you can't, but make them "receive" it ) as defective (Vista is defective as it doesn't support tons of things that work in XP, there is no legitimate technical reason for this) and then arbitrate with your credit card company to get the charge for the software refunded. If everyone did this, then MicroSoft would not produce such incompatible software. The public has had the wool pulled over their eyes ... if you bought a toaster, and it made beautiful toast 39 out of 40 times ... and in 1 out of 40 times, the bread came out on fire ... you'd return it right?  Vista'=flaming bread about 3% of the time.
I have used literally dozens of OS in 30 years as a software professional, and I can say with confidence, that your problems with Vista are just beginning.  You may be happy with Vista and the tens upon tens of hours it takes to get productive again IF and only IF you are a serious Microsoft zealot.
Look at what millions of other users say about moving from XP to Vista.  Microsoft has a policy for Corporate customers only, that if they buy an Vista machine,  they have rights to change (really upgrade) to XP for free (look it up).
If you stick with Vista, you are on a never ending MicroSoft treadmill to buy new hardware that works with your new OS, then be forced into another new operating system (MS will drop support for Vista and force you to Windows 7 faster than a hot potato)  when they refuse to support Vista read:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7.
If you stick with Vista and have any significant investment in prior software ... you are going to have to replace a portion of it.  My 4 year old $600 Office XP Pro package for one ... doesn't work on Vista!!!
If you have to have Vista,  you can resurrect your XP OS and install Sun's FREE VirtualBox and run Vista as a "Guest Operating System" within XP !!!   Then you can "play" with Vista to your hearts content, and when you really need something to work (read: your hardware or your existing software), you can use the native XP.    Oh yeah ... you are going to need a new machine to do this, but you would need that for Vista anyway.   For $700 at BestBuy, you can get a Toshiba M305D with 2 Core 64 Bit AMD CPU, 4GB Ram and Vista Premium aldeady installed 160GB or so drive ... much less that it would cost you to upgrade your DV1000 for just the RAM and Drive.

Vista crash

Sounds like a piece of the laptop's hardware has died. Best bet would be to contact the place where you purchased it from or take it back to them. If it is a hardware failure then it will be under warranty and they should replace the faulty piece of hardware or give you another laptop that is the same as this one.

Hopefully this won't be a recurring thing for you or your daughter as it can be a time consuming effort to get it replaced or fixed all the time.

Drivers for sony cybershot for windows vista

There are no drivers for Windows Vista for this camera, nor are there drivers for anything past Windows 98.

If you have a new computer with Vista loaded into it there is a slot for the memory stick in the front. Regardless of the computer the slot should read MS/PRO/DUO. Slip your memory stick in and a screen will pop up showing DRIVE H Memory stick and download from there.

If you have an older computer and upgraded to Windows Vistat there is an adapter you can buy that your memory stick slips into and then plug it in your USB slot. Software needs to be downloaded first from the site prescribed on the package.

I spent over 3 hours today trying to find drivers like you did until I got online and did a chat with a Tech from Sony. Its so simple its silly stupid. Had the slot right in front on my Dell Inspiron PC DUH !!! Good luck Same for Windows 2000 XP, with service pack 3 or 2 or anything past Windows 98 Hope this helps, it worked in a flash once I found out what to do.

How to install XP on pre loaded Vista in HP Laptop

I bought a cheap Compaq laptop that came with Vista Home Premium. The speed was horrendous! Anyway, I received the same no hard drive found error. To solve the problem, I went into the system config (BIOS) by pressing F10 on startup, and turned off SATA hard drive support (its supposed to make the hard drive run faster), I rebooted, inserted my Win XP Pro disc and viola, it detected the hard drive. I would say that the laptop runs a good 40% faster than before. Vista is a big no no when it comes to low end laptops built for word processing and internet browsing.
