Question about Nikon D70s Digital Camera

Picture taking problem

When I attempt to take a picture, the inicator flashes the word "off " when I depress the shutter and I don't know why. The manual doesn't mention this in the trobleshooting section.

Why does my canon eos rebel t3 not take a picture when the shutter button is depressed but tje red eye reduction button keeps flashing and the video still works?

Usually, it means that the timer function has been turned on, and the camera is going through a countdown to trigger the shutter.

After that, it means that something else is not working correctly. If video works and records, then you know that the sensor and memory are functioning correctly. At that point, check to see whether your camera and lens are set for the form of autofocus or manual focus you want and that the aperture is still functioning correctly.

At some point, switch the camera to an all manual settings mode and try the shutter switch. If it still does not take a picture, the switch may have a problem.

Our camera seems to be okay but when i'm attempting to get picture, i can't see any image in LCD, is it the lens?

First try pressing the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. If that doesn't help, try taking a picture with the screen black. Is the picture also black? If so, a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

I'm going to assume the pictures you have on the camera are not worth keeping. I'm going to assume you have the owners manual so the first thing I'd like your to do is check to make sure the SD card is unlocked here is a diagram.
tri3mast_28.jpg
Next I would like your to format the memory SD card page 40 of your manual here is the best diagram I can provide.
tri3mast_29.jpg
Once this has been completed turn the Main Dial page 16 to "P" program and the camera will begin making correct pictures.

If you are inside and a flash is needed use the button on the forward side of the camera the one with the lightning bolt an the internal flash will pop up and charge. Look through the viewfinder and partially (half depress) the shutter button look for your green dot in focus indicator and the green lightning bolt to come on (when the flash is in use) compose your picture and depress the shutter button the rest of the way. You have just made a picture. Study your manual and have fun with your new camera

When shutter depressed "AF" and "SB" LED's flash

My camera's shutter will not depress all the way due to a red flash light coming up all the time in the Flash-Ready indicator lamp (refer to pag 28 in the Nikon manual). It can be full sun outside but it will not work due to the red flash light coming on.

A work around is to select a flash mode of 'cancel'.
There is a button toward the front of your camera called the flash mode button. Click that until you see strike mark on the flash icon of your monitor screen (see page 32 in the Nikon manual).

The camera must have a malfunction of determining the lighting so it always thinks you need to have a flash on the picture. Of course this is not 'fixing' the flash/lighting issue but you can take typical day pictures for now with this work around.

Focusing Still Photos with SD870 IS

If you check page 45 in the manual, you'll see that the orange light during the half press indicates that the flash is turned on. A single beep means that the camera is having difficulty getting a "focus lock" (usually when shooting in low light conditions). See page 100 of the manual for suggestions on how to improve the chances for getting a well-focused picture.

Error Code

No, it's not an error. What this display indicates, is the availability of the total number of photos you want to take. If the display says, "r06", then you are in JPEG Mode. If it says "r03", then you are either 1) in RAW Mode, or 2) have your Noise Reduction on (see FAQ #2). As you take a few photos in succession, you will notice the indicator drops by how many photos you took.

No pictures recorded/black screen

it seems that shutter blades are stucked and are not working. when you say shutter is fully open i think you are talking about the lense cover, not the internal shutter assembly. the red light is the indication of OUT OF FOCUS SUBJECT OR FLASH NOT READY. if the shutter blades aare not open the camera would not be able to do the focusing and will flash the red light thus you would not get any image. contact the repairer.
