Thanks sweet_rascal, how do I fix it? Do you have a recommendation for a service center in the Seattle area? Or someone I could call for a home visit? -Jeremy

I think this is happening due to the over heating of some component inside the TV ...
the component may be capcitors or the transformers ...
just have a check is there any burning smell when you open the TV .....
this may also happen if the grounding is not proper or if the grounding wire is in loose contact inside the TV

This auto shut off can be due to the some shorting in the power board or can be due to the problem of excess heating in the power board.

if you can please tell us the pattern of the blinks.

    6 blinks means

    PROBLEM is:

    Driver SOS 1
    (SC energy recovery circuit)

    MALFUNCTIONING PART is :
SU / SD / SC Boards

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jun 30, 2008

    SC Board = Scan Drive
SD Board = Scan Out (Lower)
SU Board = Scan Out (Upper)

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jun 30, 2008

The SC board is responsible for the generation of the scan pulses. Scan pulses are used for initialization and
    selection of the pixels.
The SU and SD boards are de-multiplexer boards that are responsible for converting serial data output of the SC
board into parallel data to drive the panel.

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jun 30, 2008

    6 BLINKS SOS:

PIN 90 of the MPUIC9003 monitors the status of the SC board.
During normal operation the transistor Q6581 and IC6581 output a low to pin 90.
If the SC board becomes defective, a high is provided to pin 90

As a result, the unit shuts down and the power LED blinks 6 times

for the service of this i would recommend you to get it done by the Panasonic authorized service center.
and i am not aware of your area. so cant give a clear location of the service center in your area.

but my advice is not to go for unauthorized centers.

    thank you
please dont forget to accept the solution if you are ok with it.

    thank you once again.

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jul 05, 2008

since we have not been in customers side even once we don't know how this system works on your side sir.

but if you find a accept button please don't forget to click it. thank you.

This unit is going into protection mode because it has detected a problem inside. Can you count the number of blinks please. That should be a repeating count. This will help to isolate the problem circuit.

Thanks,
Dan

Thank you for the update. The 6 blinks will indicate the circuit that has the problem. I'll look up your model tonight abnd provide you with details.

Correct info provided by Sweet_Rascal. I would do as suggested in that posting. If you go to the Panasonic website, there is a service center locator that can get you the closest authorized service center for your product based upon your Zip code.

Turned itself off. I turned it back on and power button blinks green for a few seconds then blinks red continuously. red light by card reader blinks red about every five seconds. No picture, no sound.

unplug it from power source completely 15 minutes then plug back in with NOTHING plugged into any of the ports. If it boots back up then does it again later it make be something plugged into a port causing power to back feed into the boards. I had this same issue on my plasma last year ended up being the xbox360. After this if it still wont power then your power board maybe bad.

Time to get a new TV. I have similar problem. In my case, the set turns off, LED blinking green for about a minute or 2, then the set will turn on by itself. Something the LED started to blink yellow after blinking green and then shuts off. I can turn it back on. This happens 3 or 4 times in an hour. After that, the TV stays on for as many hours as I want until I shut it off.
And then the problem repeats everytime I turn it on from a cold start.
I have my eyes on the 50 inch Plasma from Panasonic. Bestbuy has one for 999.99.

Panasonic Plasma TH-42XVS30U, turning on the unit, blue light comes on the screen, the box blinks red twice, the screen shuts down. :(

There is a problem with scan drive 3 boards involved. Best solution and least expensive is call a authorized panasonic service center.

My Panasonic tv pt53wx53g wont turn on it blinks 3 red lights

The 3 blinks is a error code for the convergence circuit. You can get the convergence repair kit for your model at the following link which contains both Convergence ICs and all six feed resistors and they include step by step instructions with pictures that show how to do the repair yourself. Heres a link to the proper kit for your model Panasonic.

Well don't tamper with it just return it, there is serveral problem that may cause this, most likely it is the power supply board.
