Black Copies I have a NP7130 Canon copier. Copies are almost completely solid black. Drum Unit was replaced to no avail. Halogen lights do not seem as bright as I remember them to be. What should I check?

It could be a bad voltage board, which is not supplying enough power to the lamp.

yes that it 's the most possibillity.
but you must be assure that :
- the paper is not moist. (it makes pale copies)
- the glass has you cleaned up. (it makes black background uneven)
- the transfer unit is not dirty. (it makes black background)

Hi, My Canon 3245 Imagerunner is streaking.

First, the streaks appears when copy from glass or adf, when printing or all?

Solution #1:
How many copies did you do from last drum changing? if over 80 000 copies, replace the drum unit.
-in case that streaks appears when copy and print

Solution #2:
If the streaks appears only if you copy from adf or glass, clean the glass and dry it out. Both glasses, narrow on left side beneath the adf/cover and glass for copy of original.

Solution #3:
If the streaks are wide and solid, with possible toner left overs, you need to replace fixing film.

Hope that helps!

Why are my copies coming out solid black, even though my exposure lamp is still working?

A couple of possibilities. Basically if your exposure lamp is coming on, the light is not getting all the way to the drum that is in the toner cartridge. It could be you have a mirror out of place. When the exposure lamp comes on, the light is reflected off the original and then off a series of mirrors until it gets to the drum. If one of the mirrirs has been knocked out of place, like due to a recent cleaning then that would cause black copies. The more common cause would be the drum protection "gate" that is on top of the toner cartridge is closed and thus blocking any light from getting to the drum. You can slide out the toner cartridge and look on top. There is a gate or panel that flips open to be able to see the drum. This gate must be opened when installing the toner. Also it is possible to have a bad cartridge but that rarely causes completely black copies.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Sharp Z-70 copier - print outs are mostly black?

Check the dum cleaning blade. Usually the blade becomes weak and does not clean the drum properly. You can either replace just the drum blade or replace the entire drum cartridge.
If the copies are coming out solid black, then either the exposure lamp or the thermal fuse for the exposure lamp is/are burned out.

Xerox xc1020

is it a printer/copier? both prints and copies off the glass come out black?
yes...probably a problem in the drum/ CRU area
No- prints OK but copies black lift the lid and watch the exposure lamp...does it light up? does it move? Both of these scenarios would usually bring up a fault code, so I would still be inclined towards the drum unit.Pull the unit out and make sure no paper has sneaked up between the drum and the exposure slot, or even into the drum unit. another cause could be a broken corotron wire (very thin wire close to the drum usually behind a grid (charge grid) If it is a customer replacement drum unit (CRU) the charge grid will be built into the unit and will require the whole thing replacing.......

All back copies and no light from the exposure lamp

Yes, it sounds as if the lamp has blown. These are halogen lamps on the older models and run over $100 to $150 or more depending on the make. Usually if you take the platten glass off, you can slide the scanner over and see where the screws that mount the lamp end contact down are. BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE MACHINE BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY IN THE SECTION, OR ANYTIME YOU TAKE ANY COVER OR PANEL OFF!!!!!!!!! The halogen lamps use 120v ac and will bite! They are very delicate lamps, and you cannot touch them, or the oil in your skin will cause it to blow expensive mistake. make sure the contacts are in place well before you finish. And make sure to check your existing lamp on a meter for continuity... to mke sure it is blown and not just a bad lamp board. Yes, it's all very tricky and kinda dangerous, that's why we charge "so much" in the service industry.
Good luck, and you may find it cheaper to just replace the machine with a lesser make from a local dealer or office supply company.

Canon NP7130 copier

Make sure that the black plastic arm just to the right of the gray drum release handle is in the proper position. This arm sometimes gets knocked out of position when engaging the tube of new toner. When the copier is clammed closed, this will sometimes come down on the right side of the post on the bottom front cover. This will move the developer far enough away from the drum to make blank copies. Hope this helps.
