Question about E-Machines T2082 PC Desktop

1 Answer

T2082 Hello I recently bought this computer at an auction and know little about it.  It came with a monitor and keyboard.  Has  cables to connect keyboard and moniter to computer, which I've done.  I think I need a cable to plug computer into 110 outlet and a mouse????  If so where could I pick these up and how much should I expect to pay?  Also, how old might this computer be??    I'm in Saint Louis Mo.   THANKS     Joe

Power cords and mice you can pickup at almost any computer supply place. The power cord should be no more than $5, and basic optical mouse can be bought for $10 -15. I have one of these machines and I think they are 2004 - 2005 vintage.

Hook up to home pc

Today's laptops and desktop computers are more user-friendly. As more people start use computers, operating systems, software and hardware accessories are coming with better instruction manuals and streamlined interfaces. Here are a few basic steps to hook up your computer no matter which brand you bought.

Connect the power cable to the back of the computer tower. The male end of this plug is often on the computer, but it is recessed into the casing. Once this power plug is connected, you don't want to plug it into an outlet until the entire computer is set up. Attach the monitor cables to the back of the monitor and then to the back of the computer tower. This cable will probably be the VGA type, which has a wide set of prongs in the middle and two screws on the outside. Be sure to twist the screws in to ensure the cable has a solid connection. Secure the monitor's power cable to the back of the monitor and then plug it into an outlet or power strip. Attach the mouse to the USB port on the back of your keyboard. The keyboard then plugs into another USB port on the back of the computer tower. Turn on the computer and the monitor.

If the computer powers up but the monitor doesn't display anything, make sure the VGA monitor cable is secured. If the status light on your monitor doesn't turn on, check the power cable connection. Check that the mouse and keyboard work once the computer turns on. Now you can hook up other devices, such as a printer or a web cam. A printer often can connect to a USB port and also may have its own power cable; a web cam usually just plugs into a USB or firewire port.

How to use external monitor on a toshiba laptop with external monitor

It's probably best to buy a keyboard off auction sites or a new screen, the Function keys are not OS sensitive so a different keyboard will not work with them, they are device specific and require special drivers to operate.
Are keys broken or are they just missing? the membrane will still work to a firm press even if the key is missing.

keyboards can be found on auction sites

sorry I can't help more.

Connect usbtocomputer

Hello - I am too a personal owner of a CASIO CTK keyboard, a little older than yours (model CTK-601) a great keyboard BTW, and I have connected it to my computer successfuly.

There are 2 ways of connecting the keyboard to your PC......Using the MIDI outputs and a special MIDI to gameport adapter - if you have a very old system and have a joystick port (D-sub shape) on your soundcard or PC, then you use that cable. Of course this is legacy and stopped existing in newer computers, now USB is used.

Only the professional line of soundcards have direct MIDI inputs. For most of us, with consumer soundcards and PCs, there are no MIDI inputs.

The good news is that newer keyboards support USB MIDI and features direct USB connection - so all you have to do is install the drivers that are provided with your keyboard, usually a CD, and follow the instruction to install the USB drivers for your casio keyboard, BEFORE you plug in the cable (very important!) once installed you reboot and connect your keyboard using a USB cable

Now if your keyboard is older and has MIDI outputs, like mine for example, you will need to purchase a MIDI to USB adapter, those have MIDI cables in one end that plug to your keyboard and the other end a USB connector....... I don't know about the rules if I am allowed to post websites, but the product i'm using is the Uno from M-Audio - in google do this search:

"m-audio"uno

(exactly as shown above with quotes, and uno outside quotes)

Your CTK-810 may alreayd have a USB connector on it, as it is a newer generation keyboard - I am pretty sure it does - what you will have to do as stated above is located your bundled CD-ROM and install the USB drivers - you will need to purchase a USB cable (seperately).

My pc just bought will not work

if you computer has a graphics card you would find a connector on the bottom, there will be two places where you can connect you computer to, one would be on the middle and the other would be near the bottom the connector woudl look blue in colour, make sure if you have a video card installed, you would see a blue colour port near the bottom and it would be horizontal, connect the monitor video cable to that port and this issue would be resolved

Yellow Ethernet Cable

Hello,
Ethernet cables can come in all colours (very unhelpfully). The cable you need has RJ45 connectors at either end, which are clear.

It goes by many names: you are looking for Cat5e or Cat6, ‘straight’ or ‘patch’ cable, which is used to connect, say, a computer to a router. Do NOT use ‘crossover’ cable.

Netgear has some info here (a little out of date but OK:)

The monitor lights up but stays all bright white

I think that monitor might have been retired before you bought it; the white screen says that the backlight is working but the pixels are not being controlled by video so either the video cable is trashed or the input electronics are no longer functional.
You might try the following:
Go to the Control Panel, System, Monitor and delete the monitor listed. Then, with the monitor connected and on, reboot the PC to force Win to 'find' the monitor and install a fresh copy of the driver for it.
If that doesn't work, you may just have a paper weight.

White screen

This could be caused for a number of reasons. First thing to determine is if the computer is bad or just the screen. Hook up a external monitor to the laptop and turn it on and use the FN key to turn on the external monitor port. If the computer is running fine with the external monitor then you have a bad LCD or LCD inverter. which is replacable but expensive.. you would want to look at getting a new laptop or using it with the external monitor.
