2 wire router and Comcast

I currently have comcast internet and two computers in my house. I wanted intenet for both computers so I got my 2wire router out and hooked it up. My first computer works just fine but the second computer will not connect to the internet. I have tried switching the cords they are hooked up to and failed. I called comcast they said i need some sort of Ip address for my router and gave me a terrible phone number of 40 minutes of waiting and no help in the end because i am not an AT&T customer. anyone help???

Cable from modem gets inserted into router port named WAN/Internet
from router you should have a cable going into back computer ethernet port.
once inserted, input router IP address into an address bar (IE or My Computer) eg. 192.168.1.1 --- to find out what your router I is:
Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig /all --- router ip would be listed as Default Gateway or DHCP server
Once logged into router, go to Properties page of router config and perform a Release and Renew of router's ip

You can do a reset on the router to make a factory settings. On the back of the router you can look for a small hole usually with the word reset.Press it for 20 secs with the router on but disconnected from the Ethernet cable.Start up your PC and surf to the router Web UI (192.168.***) and make your settings.

Belkin G wireless Router

Do you have an all-in-one router from Comcast? For example, do you have the cable (RF) line and your PC plugged into the Comcast router? If so, unplug your PC from the Comcast router and connect the Internet port of the Belkin to the ethernet port on the Comcast router. Then plug your PC into the LAN port on your Belkin.

[PC] ---> [Belkin] ---> [Comcast] ---> Internet

Once you have connected your boxes as displayed above, you will need to power everything off and bring up the boxes in the following order:

Comcast (wait 60 seconds)
Belkin (wait 60 seconds)
PC

If you cannot get out to the internet, momentarily press the reset button on the back of the Comcast box. Comcast routers are weird. A poweroff should reset the router but I have seen a few times where nothing works until the reset button is pressed (this is also recommended by Comcast).

I hope this helps.

Loss of internet connection when going through router

Your laptop seems to be hooked to your neighbours unsecured network automatically and it is going online with that. About comcast, when you connect a router to the modem or a computer to the modem, the modem has to be rebooted to give a valid IP to the connected device. If the modem is not rebooted the computer or the router will get 192.168.x.x IP address which is called private IP address.

Connecting ADSL wireless modem router to COMCAST

unfortunately you can't because the 2wire is a dsl modem it has to use the phone line to connect to the internet, it would be different if it was just a router but since it is a modem it needs that connection to the phone line in order to work

2wire Wireless router not working w/Comcast cable modem

Its almost impossible to connect a 2wire DSL router with a Cable modem. They dont go hand in hand.
Although you can connect the outgoing ethernet wire from the modem in the last ethernet plug on the back of the router and then have the ethernet connections coming from the router. But not wireless. and if you find a way, contact me at jneal2k9@hotmail.com
