This is most likely due to a broken, worn, or clogged control valve assembly (CVA). You can try resetting the dial to the smallest dot, but I'm not sure that will work for you.
Detach hose from vacuum. Turn vacuum on. If it runs, place palm over intake port. If it shuts off, then it's the CVA. This is a shop repair and should only be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service tech. It may seem spendy, but they can also do a clean and service to remove any dust in the interior of the machine and motor. This will extend the life of your machine if there's much dust in it.
The cause of this problem is often due to using "made to fit" Electrolux bags rather than the genuine bags. Genuine bags will always have "Home Solutions" printed on top.

My electrolux vacuum cleaner?

Sometimes the bag isn't installed properly.
Try removing the bag and replace with a new one making sure that the bag is in the bag compartment squarely on all four corners thus covering the bag door switch. Close lid and try again.
Hope that helps!

My electrolux vac shut off for a full bag. After replacing the bag the vac won't start and the bag full light stays on.What should I be looking for to resolve my problem?

If the suggestion that renevacdoc did not work, it is most likely that your valve assembly(full bag control) has gone bad and needs to be replaced. You will have to take your vac to the Aerus/Electrolux dealer/service store for repair.

How to reset?

The button I think you are talking about is the bag switch. It is located in the bottom right corner where you put the bag. If the bag does not cover it, the machine will not run.
Also, when the machine cuts off when the bag is full, you have to push the power switch off and back on to reset the full bag switch located in the switch control housing inside the machine.

Electrolux upright bag light stays on even when bag is not full

Once you change the bag, be sure to turn the machine off and back on to clear the fault. If it is the full bag light that is on, and not the "?" light, and you have a new bag in place, then you probably have a bad control valve. I would suggest finding the closest Aerus (formerly Electrolux) dealer and having them change it. It shouldn't be too expensive. If you have the "?" light illuminated, the bag probably isn't pressing the actuator like it should. When placing the new bag into the machine, be sure the bag top presses the small button in the lower right hand corner. Good Luck!

Electrolux Epic 6500SR Full Bag sensor working, Does not Reset properly

The problem was a sticking switch that was not being reset. The vacuum on/off switch mechanism is comprised of two switches. One is the main switch that turns the vacuum on and off. The second is a shut off switch that gets tripped when the full bag sensor is engaged. This second switch is supposed to get reset when you push the on/off switch on the outside of the machine. The full bag shutoff switch was stiff and it, therefore, was taking a couple of presses of the on/off switch to move the shutoff switch back into the running position.

Full bag system works properly, but doesn't reset easily

Either there is something wrong with your switch. Which it doesnt sound like it. Take it to your dealer or call another one it sounds like the control valve needs to be replaced. I am a dealer 1-866-966-9350.

Red light stays on

Most likely the hose or the inlet down by the brush roll has a clog in it. The red light indicates a full bag, but if there is a clog, then it thinks it has a full bag.
