Question about Toshiba Satellite M35X-S111 Notebook

PC screen display changed colors

I have seen this one before and sent this computer in for repair THREE times for this same problem. Somewhere inside the guts of this machine there is a plug that wiggles loose over time. All the technician does is open the machine up, plug it back tight and then cahrge mw $100.

Anyone know where this plug is and how to access it? I can see the screen but the colors have changed as if some of the pins in the plug are not contacting.

There aren't many connections for the screen. There will be two possibly three behind the screen and one that connects the screen to the board. $100 is steep, it would be $40 tops at my shop and I would discount and show you where it is and how to do it yourself on the second time. This link may help, it's got breakdown diagrams for various models.

If a laptop screen is changing colour to pink, what is the solution?

More than likely you will need a new screen. It could be the screen or it could be the video card inside the computer. Try connecting another screen to the laptop to isolate the problem. Borrow a screen from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the laptop. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok without the changing color to pink then your video card is ok and the problem is your original screen needs to be replaced. If the Borrowed monitor displays the same pink colors then your video card inside the computer is bad.

The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

Most likely the display is defect, you can try to change the settings in your computer and put the display in 1024x768 and 60Hz but I think it will not solve your porblem. You have to send it for a repair or buy a new one.

My E771 monitor colors suddenly shifted with

Possibilities:
1. video-card gone bad;
2. video-cable gone bad;
3. video-cable not tightly-connected to CRT;
4. video-cable not tightly-connected to video-card;
5. "red" gun inside CRT gone bad.

Disconnect the video-cable from the computer, and try again to adjust the "red". If red-free, then it's time to responsibly recycle the CRT.

Reconnect & wiggle the video-cable, to see if that induces any "red" onto the CRT.

Connect the CRT to the VGA-output port on a notebook computer, to see if that video-card generates "red" as one of the primary colours.

Give the CRT a strong "whack" on the side, to see if "red" makes an appearance.

Monitor turns green

This sounds like a problem with the cable. Monitors have Red, Green, and Blue signals. I have seen it where the cable has a short, or the plug has a bent or loose pin, and this causes the monitor to turn green.
It is also possible, but doubtful, that the video card is trying to run it as a Black and White monitor. B&W signal is sent over the green channel.

CRT Monitor Displays only a thin bright horizontal line

Vertical IC loose connection. Best is to reflux it or resolder. It is in internal circuitry inside the monitor commonly an upside single line IC.

And its a minor repair only. But I recommend it to be serviced by a qualified technician. Inside it are plenty of nasty voltages. It might caught you.

My screen is blank & no sound

The laptop probably has a sticker on the inside that changes color when wet(eventually this had to be defective)...this is why they probably sent it back without even turning it on. since you never spilled anything on it you will probably have an hard time to have it replaced, but keep fighting for your right to have it replaced.

Greeen!!!!!!!!!

You can try to Degauss the monitor. It still sounds like the video cable is bad. That last part you mentioned about the OSM (on-screen Menu) having normal colors comes from the monitor and has nothing to do with the cable or pc. That tells me its the video cable, or the video cable connector (pins maybe bad) or a bad connection somewhere. There could be a bad connector inside the monitor where the video cable is attached to the electronics board. Sometimes those contacts just get oxidized and quit transmitting a signal. They need a good cleaning.
