You will need to download the drivers off the averatec 3200 website and then install them. I checked and its a .exe file which means it should be very simple. If you have no internet on the laptop you will need to download them to a flash drive or burn to cd via another computer.
go to the Averatec support driver page and download new drivers for the USB. Sometimes these are listed as "chipset" drivers, which is a set drivers bundled into one. below is a link to where you can download files
If it is user locked a hard restart (power down power on) will unlock it.
if it is password protected and you have "forgotton" the password reinstall it from OEM (factory) disks/cd's.
if you MUST access the data on the drive, remove the drive and use it as a secondary drive or a usb drive (with a usb to HDD cable) and take onership of the files that way and move them to a new media, then reinstall your pc.
If your not comfortable with that seek a repair shop.
Get adapter here: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=2020. Download hard drive cloning software. Connect new drive to adapter, and USB cable to booted notebook. Follow cloning software instructions. When finished, swap out the old hard drive.
