Portable air conditioner question from a dummy?

Do all portable air conditioners need tohave an outside ventalition source? It may seem like a **** question but I cannot find any that don't require an outdoor ventalition source-I live in an apartment/condo that I am renting andI am unable to make any changes to the windows because of condominium bylaws and I am dying of heat in this beautiful but "too hot too handle anymore" condo that I have just signed a one year lease on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Short answer: YES.

Some of the floor-type AC units have a flexible duct that you can run to a header panel that you close in your window. Works pretty slick!

Where can in get a set of exhaust/intake hoses for a danby dpac120068 air conditioner

Is there a reason not to just go to the Danby site? Support Danby includes phone support, email and "Find Parts" Even if their source is out you should at least be able to find the correct part number, then Google Danby (part number).
You could also look to see if generic flexible vinyl tubing/hose can be substituted. It's doubtful that Danby created their own hoses.

Why is my appartment getting cooler ???

An air conditioner really just moves heat from one place to another. Normally there is an inside unit and an outside unit, or in the case of a window unit, half is inside the room and half outside the window. In either case, it takes the heat from in the room and moves it outside. This portable unit apparently takes the heat from one room and dumps it into another. There is no magic heat elimination - it has to go somewhere.

THE UNIT BLOWS COOL AIR OUT THE FRONT BUT HOT AIR OUT THE BACK THE MODEL IS aP076E .i DO NOT HAVE A MANUAL BUT IT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE REAL HARD TO RUN THANKS

Yes, that is the way a typical air conditioner works. The portable types need to have the hot discharge air direct outside via flexible hose and an adjustable window bracket. The window closes on the bracket to create a seal, and the hose connects between the air conditioner discharge and the opening in the bracket. This is called "venting". Most portable air conditioners include (or offer as an accessory) a "vent kit" or "window kit".

Some portable air conditioners do not provide a way to vent - fortunately yours appears to have a kit for this purpose. You may wish to check out this page on venting. It has plenty of ideas and suggestions for venting. This site has some very good pictures to document making a vent - and is worth a look, too.

If this was helpful, please rate it "4 thumbs up" - thanks!

Portable air conditioner not cooling

Ensure your Portable Air Conditioner is sized properly for the room it is in.

A good rule of thumb is 12,000 BTUs for 400 square feet. If the room you are attempting to cool is too large, then the cooling effectiveness will change.

Also ensure that the air conditioner is properly vented outside of the room.

Can a portable air conditioner be plug to a portable battery source?

NO.....that would be DC voltage and this unit probly needs A/C voltage. However a genarator would be just fine if it produced enuff watts.

Hot air coming out of back

portable air conditioners mainly have two hoses one hose is exhaust thats the one that is blowing hot air. the one pulling is return.. the hot air blowing out should be exhausted to the outside. the blowing air needs a hose and to be laid out a window the back should have model and serial maybe product number. the two holes are either 4 inch or three inch and most portable units other than hand me downs come with a window frame that allows the hot exchanged air to go outside and cooler air to be used for heat exchange.
