It sounds like. You really need to have some one take it apart and clean the sand out of it. The camera will make those noises when the sand gets between the gears of the lens assembly and they cant connect correctly.

ou could try helping the lens go back in GENTLY. But thats risky and you could ruin a lens that would work just fine if it where cleaned out.

let me know which model and brand you have and I could tell you better whether or not you should try anything your self.

goodluck,
Caleb

Lens error, restart camera camera shuts off

Try one of these two fixes, if they dont work for you follow the link below for further troubleshooting.

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Fix #1: Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fresh set of batteries back in (preferably rechargeable NiMH 2500mah or better) and turn the camera on. If that didn't work, try pressing and holding the Function or OK button while turning the camera on.
Fix #2: If the camera's batteries ran down completely while the its lens was still open, the camera may show a lens error or not start properly when new batteries are installed. Remove the memory card and keep it removed, then install the new batteries. When you turn the camera on with the card removed it may come back to life, as this triggers a reset in some cameras. Error E30 (for older Canon's) means that you don't have a memory card installed, so turn it off, slip in the SD card and turn it on one last time

Lens error,restart camera

Hi,

This error occured when lens is prevented from properly extending or retracting.when pressure is applied to the lens or the area surrounding the lens while handling the camera.
Avoid applying pressure to the lens and surrounding area:
  • Do not touch Lens while shooting.
  • Make sure the camera is off before the camera is placed back in the case.
If you cannot clear the error code by turning the camera off and then on again then your device need to be repaired.

Rating the solution is highly appriciated...Good Luck.

Quantaray 18-200 f3.5/6.3 AF VR Autofocus and Stabilizer stopped. If I turn on one or both the camera says ''ERROR - TURN THE CAMERA OFF AND ON'' If I turn off stabilizer and autofocus, I can use the...

it sounds like the problem you're experiencing is related to the stabilizer being able to reset itself. Oftentimes with the stabilizer lens especially if the lens is dropped or impacted the stabilizer will lose one of its control points. When this happens the camera will try to initialize the stabilizer and find it'll come in slightly crooked which will cause the camera to error out. Usually when this happens will have to replace the stabilizer unit for lands like yours which is actually a Sigma lens the cost for the part usually runs around $89. Since the lens works fine in the manual mode and only fails when you turn the stabilizer on I would guess that the stabilizer is your culprit. Replacement of this product will require the lands be completely disassembled and then recalibrating cleanness is put back together. The repair of this type usually runs around $109. You might try contacting the manufacturer directly to see if you are covered under an extended warranty. These lenses often were covered for three years. You should be able to find your local contact number on your lens information sheet. Good luck if we can help contact me directly.

Lens error, restart camera. How can I restart the camera IXUS 60?

Hi,

Since the camera is locked after lens error, you will restart camera removing batteries.

If this does not help, then you are in one of the following conditions:

Lens error and lens does not retract.
Try helping lens gently back in while you turn off the camera holding the button at same time.

Lens error and lens do not extend.
Restart the camera , and try gently tapping the camera back with the palm of your hand whilst restarting camera at same time.

If that does not help, then one part on the camera lens assembly is broken or out of place, or dirt inside lens mechanism caused the fault.

The lens must be disassembled by a technician to fix the problem.

If the problem is not fixed swapping batteries and resetting, then the camera must be taken apart and tested by a technician.

In the compartment where the batteries go, there is another smaller watch battery, pull out the watch battery, and re install, and that should fix your lens error, I have a Canon powershot A700 that was getting the same error code and it works just fine now!!

First of all, make sure your batteries are fully charged.
If it's still stuck, you could try hold the lens with two fingers, and when you turn the camera on, you **** the lens around just a little bit. Do not use a lot of force, just slightly **** it around. That might unfreeze it.
If that won't help, I'm afraid you're going to have to bring it to a camera workshop.

Canon error codes

I have a 100-300mm Quantaray lense and have the exact same issue. I spoke to Canon about this and they suggested cleaning the contacts. That helps for 1 picture. You would have to remove the lense and rub the contacts between each picture. Not a good plan. They suggested the Quantaray may have a fix or repair for the lense and to contact them. However they have no listed 800 number nor any website. only other suggestion is to contact a camera shop and see if they can service the lense. Only other option is to replace it.
