Question about Hotpoint FFM70 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

Water in Fridge

There is always a puddle of water in the bottom of the fridge under the vegetable drawers. Sometimes this gets frozen if the fridge is turned down too much. Does it need defrosting and how do I go about this?

I have the same problem. The drain channel freezes about 2" - 3" above the bottom. I have to defrost it with boiling water and keep syphoning it out when it cools using some earth cable sleeve.

I have had wire down it, and up it, and there does not seem to be a blockage.

I have to do this about every 4 weeks.

Hi gchives.
My own fridge had this problem and it turned out to be a blocked drain at the back of the fridge compartment, just below the cold plate. The water is supposed to condense on the plate and run down to a drip channel, and then through a tube onto the top of the compressor, where it evaporates.
On mine, the tube was blocked with gunge so the water spilled over onto the bottom of the compartment. I got a length of earth wire - the sort used for wiring UK domestic ring mains - and poked it down the tube to clear the gunge away. I then chased it through with some hot water and washing soda and it has been fine ever since.

If these suggestions do help you solve the problem, please give my reply a rating to help others judge my knowledge.
If they do not, please give me more details so I can try to help you further.
Cheers, D

I am getting water on my shelves which freeze in the back and under my vegetable drawer i get puddles of water.

Sounds like the water drain in the evaporator case is plugged causing the 'defrost' water to overflow instead of going down under the unit where it is evaporated.

You may be able to blow out the plug if you can get to the drain end under the unit. on in the lower part of the fridge.

Water build up

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are getting puddles of water in the back of one of the bottom shelf and in one of the vegetable drawers in your Frigidaire refrigerator. I suggest putting the crisper drawer control on the Hi humidity setting. This should allow more moisture to escape out of the drawer and not cause as much puddling. Also, check your water filter and make sure it is not leaking, as well as any moisture from the ice maker. If further troubleshooting is needed, I ask that you please leave the model number of your washer. Typically, you can find this number inside your refrigerator on the liner walls. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Model CTX18GAZBRWW - (Hotpoint) no-frost - freezer on top Water collects under the vegetable drawers and must be removed every day.

Something to try....on the back wall of the fridge nearer to the top is a little cup like part sticking out. There is water in it but it usually runs down an attached tube inside back wall and ends up under the fridge and gets evaporated. If that tube or the little cup thing is plugged then it will drip in the fridge and collect on the inside bottom of the fridge. So the trick is to clean them out. Check it out ...may solve the problem.

GE Profile leaking onto floor

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section behind the cover underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

Water comes into the fridge from the freezer.

Hi,
You have the drain from the coild froze up. The coils defrost and the water cannot run down the drain so it goes into your fridge.
This tip is all about that and how to fix it.

There is a puddle of water inside the refrigerator, beneath the vegetable bins.

How many items are in your freezer? I had this problem and there was too much in the freezer, not allowing the air to circulate properly in the freezer, thus resulting in freeze up in the top (freezer) and condensation below in refrigerator section. Additionally, I had the refrigerator setting too cold, which accelerated the problem. I had to thaw the drain hole in the freezer section, below the fan, to allow water to leave freezer during defrosting stage. Hope this helps?

Make sure the door is closing properly, that nothing is trapped in the door seal, and that the seal isn't torn or distorted. The seals are there to stop moist external air getting in then dropping its load of moisture as it cools. A.
