Thanks DickylV1, The LED light comes on when the power on/off button is engaged. I do not have any indication on the LCD display that the machine is on. Only the LED on the door stays on. When the power is turned off and the requite couple of minutes lapse, the door will open. The wash cycle used to stop at about 50 mins and the drum was left full of water. If the pump has gone, I cannot understand why the LCD display does not come on. Could it be the PCB board? Many thanks
    Chris

Thanks D, OK this is what I have checked. There is an on/off button. When I push it in, an amber LED comes on indicating that power is supplied to the machine. At the same time, an amber LED n the door comes on. The display panel is dead, no other LED/ lights or a hint of life in the display panel. Selecting the type of load, spin speed etc, by pressing the relevant buttons returns no response whatsoever. Once I turn the power button OFF, I have to wait a few minutes before the door will open, but that is the only indication of any "life" in this washing machine. Also, b4 it stopped working, the program would stop at about 50 min into the cycle and the drum would be full of water. I have not check the pump. I tried to check the filter but it needs quite a bit of persuasion to open and I havent undone it fully to see if it is unblocked as I feel I might break the plastic. If it was the PCB are they difficult to get to and change? Thanks for your help., Chris

Hi Chris,
If the door led normally goes out when the cycle starts you may have a problem with the interlock system which prevents the door from being opened when the machine is running. If the machine "thinks" the door is still open, it won't start. You could try closing the door a "little more firmly" to see if this has any effect.

If this suggestion does help you solve the problem, please give my reply a rating to help others judge my knowledge. If they do not, please give me more details so I can try to help you further. Cheers, D

    Hi again, Chris.

Let's try and look at this a little more deeply. Is this a red led or a green led, or some other colour, and do you think it indicates that the door is locked or unlocked? (Two questions there!)

As for the pump having gone, it's probably still there :-) but it might be blocked with coins or other stuff left in pockets. Do check the filter to see what lurks there, if you haven't done so already. A blocked filter or jammed pump might stop a programme in its tracks.

As for the pcb, they can have problems - the one in my Indesit has one at the moment and I can't figure it out. Often the pcb problems are really silly little things like a bad connection or a burned track, easily fixed by anyone with two eyes and a soldering iron. Alas the "approved repair man" will only come with a new pcb and a request for £££ or $$$, so I can't give any further guidance on that front.

The only possible connection that I can think of between a blocked pump and a pcb fault is that excessive splashing might have caused water to come up the soap tray and drip down onto the pcb afterwards.

If you can answer the led question at the top I might have some other ideas. Thanks, D.

OK Chris, it seems that power isn't getting to the programming side of things. It might be corroded contacts so things that I would get checked would be all the connectors to all the circuit boards, pumps, and sensors. I would unplug the machine and look for any signs of damage / burning / rusting / white deposits on the pcb's I could see, and try to remove those that I couldn't, so that I could. I don't know where they are hidden on your specific machine, but they are always on the end of a bunch of wires :-)

Almost any pcb in a washing machine can be priced at £100 / $200, even if it only cost a quid to produce, so "time spent in reconnaissance is seldom wasted."

The stuck filter is not something to be avoided - it could contain the stuff which is jamming your pump. Try swabbing the outside edges of the filter with warm soapy water or cooking oil to free it. It could be that set of keys you lost hiding in there!

I look forward to hearing of your progress. Cheers, D.

Zanussi washing machine fs1255w green end light flashes 5 times what is this error code

Press START/PAUSE and any one of the option buttons
simultaneously for at least two seconds: the LEDs first switch off,
and then display the flashing sequence corresponding to the
alarm condition.
Examples:
Alarm E43 (problems with the door safety interlock triac) will be displayed as follows:
• four flashes of the END OF CYCLE LED indicate the first digit E43;
• three flashes of the START/PAUSE LED indicate the second digit E43;
So, error code E55 as you specified does not exist. Any how, family error code 5 (first digit) means problem with motor. Error code could be E51,E52,E53 and E54.
Possible causes:
- faulty motor
- motor brushes (very often)
- faulty tachometer (integrated in the motor but is replaceable)
- faulty electronic (Motor power triac short-circuited or motor relay contacts sticking).

Washer makes very loud humming noise in spin cycle but does not spin..I removed clothes thinking it was very heavy and it did spin out but when I put clothes back it returned w/no spin and loud noise..now...

Either the control board or the motor has gone bad. Here is the diagnostic mode to run to look for the errors.
The diagnostic test is performed by using the Program Knob. To START THE TEST: • On non-digital display models, turn the Program Knob to start position, Drain/Spin. • On digital display models, turn the Program Knob to start position, Touch Up. • Press Pause/Cancel to turn off LEDs. • Within 5 seconds, press and hold the Option and Pause Cancel buttons until LEDs start sequentially chasing, then release buttons. 1. All the LEDs will sequentially light. Pressing a button below a light cluster will light all the LEDs in that cluster at one time to confirm functionality. 2. Turn the program knob (1) click clockwise from the start position. The hot water solenoid will activate and hot water should enter through the detergent compartment. 3. Turn the program knob (2) clicks from the start position. The bleach water solenoid will activate and cold water should enter through the bleach compartment. 4. Turn the program knob (3) clicks from the start position. The bleach and the wash water solenoids will activate and cold water should enter through the softener compartment. 5. Turn the program knob (4) clicks from the start position. The door lock solenoid will activate. 6. Turn the program knob (5) clicks from the start position. The door lock solenoid will deactivate and the loading door can be opened. 7. Turn the program knob (6) clicks from the start position. The washer will fill and tumble. 8. Turn the program knob (7) clicks from the start position. The washer will fill and spin (leakage test). 9. Turn the program knob (8) clicks from the start position. The drain pump and door lock solenoid will activate and the washer will operate in high spin. SAFETY WARNING: If power is removed during this test, the door can be opened. To prevent injury, DO NOT put your hands inside when the tub is rotating. 10. Turn the program knob (9) clicks from the start position. The control will signal the last error code.

Zanussi zwf1237w washing machine

I had the same problem my 3 yr old had been playing with the buttons and the whole thing just locked up and displayed ERR no amount of unplugging turning off would fix it.

Till ...........

  • Take off the top
  • Unscrew front panel and remove,
  • Then remove circuit board from panel,
  • Desolder the square battery,
  • Leave to stand around 15 Min's, (would recomend longer to be sure)
  • Re-solder Battery refit circuit board and refit panel.

This discharges the program memory chip and resets to default.

Hope this helps it's not so hard as it sounds just take care with the battery. DON'T put to much heat on it use a screwdriver on the small connections to act as a heatsink.

It appears that you may have a faulty door interlock or a faulty PCB. pcb is not really a DIY job as some boards require proramming on certain versions. Regards Advisor
