Yes it can be i think the button spring is stuck down .
1 try to put the finger on it gently and rotate it clockwise and anti clockwise slowly and gently if it dosent pop out you take a very thin pin or so and try to insert it from down and try to pop it out but be carefull dont apply a force or you can brek the loks once it comes out you press the rubber part down slowly slowly if it comes out it will be in the normal position.and then put back the key by fixing the lock as it was before
and should be ok.
if dose'nt get fix then have to take it for service center.
thanks

The cursor jumps backward in text. It jumps several lines up and down.It also does not respond to a simple left tap when I need it to open or close wish to delete something. I am not accidently doing...

Replace the mouse with a known good working one.
If you are not using a mouse (bad news) the touch pad may be failing.
In that case, an easy test and fix is to disable it in "Control Panel" then install a mouse in the USB Port.

If the problem is corrected then it is your touch pad.

Here is a link to the manual from Dell. FREE!

See Page 42 on disabling the Touch Pad.

Go to EBay and insert "6000 Dell Inspiron touch pad". It's cheap but difficult to replace.

My dell inspiron laptop's left click button isn't working as well as it use to, i think it maybe worn down, is there anyway i could get it replaced, and if so, where?

Simple solution with less cost is please use the external USB mouse.(Small size also avaible in market.) You are not mentioned the location where you are, Please locate the nearest Laptop service center for repair/replacement.
Try once with installing the Touch pad drivers.. .

Left click key doesn't bounce back when clicked. Seems stuck

The key is stuck you have to be very careful if you are going to attempt to repair this.Turn the computer off and remove the battery before you attempt to repair it.Try prying it up with a thin knife blade. If this pops up and is working make sure it works as good as the other side.If not you will have to replace the palmrest.

My toshiba laptop cursor doesnot move when i touch the tray pad

Hi!

I had the same problem after my fat cat sat on my keyboard. This is how I fixed it. At the top of the keyboard there is a F9 key. If you look closely at this key, it also has two pictures of the mouse pad. This key is a toggle that turns the mouse pad on and off. Down near the lower left corner of the keyboard is a key marked FN. Hold down the FN key and press the F9 key. That will turn the mouse pad back on.

Broken Button

Hello Roinette,

It is unfortunate to know about that. However as you told that the left click button of the touch pad for you acer laptop has broken or damged, the only way to get it resolved is to get the laptop serviced. As the laptop touch pad and keypad is integrated directly with the mother board it is not possible to fix just that paricular button. The pad must be replaced. Get in touch with the acer technical support , they will replace the pad for you.

Thank you. Best of Luck.
