you can buy just about any PCI NIC card from ebay or even walmart and they should work. make sure they are compatible with your OS. it will say on the box.

If you are hardly doesn't connect even your wireless station is been detected why not try to set your settings manually in your wireless card.

This is when you are behind a router.

Goto Network and sharing center. Click on Manage Wireless Network. Click on Adapter properties. Click Internet Protocol version 4. Click properties, then set the ipaddress of your laptop it doesn't have to be identical to any of your existing connection, your subnet, default gateway. And also input your IP DNS.

Ethernal Controller Problem


click start
click connect to
show all connections
look to see if lan or high speed internet shows connection.
If enabled and not working look on back of computer to see green light from ethernet plug.
if no green light try different ethernet cable, if that doesn't help replace ethernet card less than $20

Can not get internet on gateway e-series regular ethernet card won't fit


when you plug that wire in you should see a green light, if not then your ethernt adapter is probably bad or there is no signal coming from your wire

My daughter came home from college and we tried to hook her acer laptop (with vista home basic) up to our ethernet connection. My laptop is hooked up to it and also our desktop. Hers wont just be connected...


open up internet explorer>tools>connections and make sure never dial a connection is ticked as it seems as if its trying to dial a connection instead of using the always online connection that the router provides.

Close IE and the open it up again, refresh window if required and it should go online
