GSA-4167B hmmm.. thats an old drive... i believe you past it product life (means that you writer can not recognize correctly new modern media such dvd disks.
Reports are: that your drive is able to write on DVD+R Double layer 3.3x-8x (CAV).
Please be sure that your writing speed is between 4x-8x (my favorite speeds for quality DVD disc burning)
Since the drive have already some writing issues... and as you say that it fails on all media..i would suggest you to buy a new one.
If you desperately need IDE adapter you can find on ebay some converter from sata to ide converter.

For video , use NERO Recode
For data , use NERO Burning Rom
If the issue persists , try using burning with another unit and compare the results . If you are still stuck , change software . If this still doesn't work , install Malwarebytes and make a full deep scan of your system ( http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html )

If a software don't give the options to choose between regular disc and 8.5 ( which is the one that is used for the originals movies) then you need another program. DVDFab does give that option. Search for DVD clone. But Nero should have the copy disc option, which you don't have to convert or anything like that, it should work.

i downloaded the nero 8 trail version from the net but it needs a serial key to activate please send me the serial key for the activation and aslo tell me how can i crack it to make it full version

go to nero 6.66 and use imation discs, if your os is running ok and you do not suceed whith that i told you, your dvd unit is bad.

Please use nero version nero 7.0 or you can get new version nero 8.0 from www.soft82.com/download/Windows/Nero

It will solve your problem its beter if you get cracked version of nero 7.0 from bit torent or bearshare

i have 2dvd dvd writer but i want install roxio thas edition say that is compatible whit xp but my computer say isnot compatible i eraser this instalation and now dont work my dvd writer

U can use nero, first of all you must format de DVD-RW, so that it can be be rewritable. Then use it like a normar DVD-R disk. And every time you want to rewrite the DVD only make a quickformat and put your things on the DVD.

Nero needs to be uninstalled (using Nero Clean Tool) and then reinstalled after you have added a new lightscribe DVD drive. To correctly uninstall Nero go to Nero website to download Clean Tool application specific to your version of Nero. http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/Clean_Tools.html
