The drum is not spinning

Your problem does sound like failed bearings to me, but I'm not sure whether its the drum bearings or the motor bearings. If you were to take off the drive belt or otherwise disconnect the drum from the motor that would help to pinpoint the problem. If the drum is still hard to turn when disconnected from the motor it points to the drum bearings. If not, then its likely the motor.
