My netgear router has the power light and the tick light flashing and i can not get on line

    The model no is DG834G the power light and the tick light next to it are alternating power light is Green tick light is orange and are aternating quite fast. hope u can help me

Please check the label on the bottom of the router as there are 4 versions... DG834GvX where X is the Version number.

Did the router ever work or is this a new piece of equipment?

Lets at least do some basics...

Can you log into the router?

To log in type http://192.168.0.1 in the address field of your Internet browser. You should get a pop up asking for a user name and password. the defaults are user = admin nad password = password.

If BT tested the phone line is OK but did AOL test the connection to the Netgear router and get the IP address of your Netgear router.
The phone connection is OK but the ADSL connection from the telephone exchange may not be working, that is why you are not getting an ADSL light.

  • That's good that the tick is not on .
  • Because the tick light is a POST ( power on self test )
  • In case if there is a hardware fault in the router that light will come on , and indicate u abt the fault ..

Netgear router - wont connect


Hi,

In Netgear routers if the tick light is on that mean there are some issues in the router. Normal by resetting the router to factory default can be solve these issues. Please follow the steps below to reset the router.

1. Locate the reset hole at the back of the router.
2. Press the reset button with the help of pen or a pointed object for 15 seconds.
3. Take out the power cable without releasing the reset button.
4. Plug the power back cable without releasing the reset button.
5. Hold the button for 15 more seconds and then release it.
6. Take out the power and plug it back and check the status.

My tick not coming up on my netgear router


The tick should only light when you first turn-on and then go off If the test light is not coming on at all and the Router is NOT working, and you CANNOT login to the router

I would do a factory reset - To restore the factory default configuration settings: 1. Use a sharp object such as a pen or a paper clip to press and hold the restore factory settings button, located on the rear panel of the router, for about 20 seconds, until the Test light begins to blink 2. Release the restore factory settings button, and wait for the router to restart, and for the Test light to turn off.

Power light and internet light flash every few seconds no internet access..


Hi,

If the powerlight and the internet light is flashing then this is problem with the router or might be with the Power supply, If ur Model no: DG834Gv4 then call netgear to get the replacement for Powersupply(if ur product is under warranty) or else get the replacement of the router
-- but if it is not under warranty
-- then try with different power supply,
-- and if that won't help you
-- go for a new router.

The green power light on my Netgear router type DG834G flashes intermittently and we can''t connect to the internet?


Flashing power light is a sign of a bad router , what we can do to correct this is to reset the router to do this press and hold the reset button of the router for 15 seconds while power is ON and then after that reconfigure the router you can run the setup CD or manually reconfigure it.......

Netgear tich not lighting up


The Tick light should only come on when the netgear first starts, and when all the checks are complete and OK, it goes out. First, make sure you computer wireless is turned on, Next, go to the lower right of your screen to the system tray where there should be a monitor icon with an"X" on it. Right click and select "View available wireless networks". Select your router name and click "Connect" You should connect and be able to get on the web. If you set up security, select your network and click connect. Type in your KEY and then you should connect to the web.

Netgear wirelss modem tick not lighting


Hi,

Please note that the tick light turns on only when the router is doing a self test. If it is on then that means the router is either faulty or doing a self test. If the router is working fine then the tick light should be off.

Power light flashing green

Wont connect to internet


You need to reset the router if the lights are flashing. Press the reset button at the back of the router for about 20 seconds then release it. Now unplug the power for 20 mins as well and plug it back in. Make sure your connection is right. PC connected to port 1 and modem to WAN or Internet port.
