i know it's not the ram

the situation was my girlfiend was on the net. she called to me asking what was wrong with it? as i went to the room i could hear the pc beepint (several beeps lasting two-three seconds each) by the time i got there the pc had switched itself off.

i turned back on, the fans kicked up but that was all the sreen stay'd off the keybaord and mouse stay'd off.

took the side off and noticed the CPU was red hot the fans were all working. curiously i disconnected the fan to the cpu and the pc managed to boot but switched off seconds later????

Check ALL Fans are working and are connected to the Mother Board. Ram can also cause beeping.

What type of processor?

Hi my computer wont start up and making beeping sound

Hi,

First of all you didnt mention how it gets shut down. So i can say 2 possible ways in which system gets shut down.

First thing is that when you boot windows it will get shut down constantly

Second thing is that it wont load windows. TO be more specific CPU wont get On.

So what you need to do is that If the problem is with the first case you need to see the windows need to be formatted and you can proceed successfully

IF the problem is with the second case you need to get repair the SMPS or you need to see the CPU interior circuits.

I hope it helps.

Thanks.

I have an acer aspire, after switching off last night and turning back on, I have a screen del: set up or f12: boot, nothing happens when I press either, have had to hold in the on off button a few times...

First reattch your mouse and keyboard cable connection to cpu.
Then check if still same then open cpu cabinet.
Refix RAM memory.
When cmos cell is gone this issue occurs so change cmos cell .
Pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes then refix into it.
Reattach ATX power connctor from smps to motherboard.
Reattach processor and its fan.
then check.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Acer Aspire PC T310 boot up problem

try bios reset, all common problems occur after a major power outage or power spikes... try resetting the bios and it should work fine, if not try replacing the video card and start from there...

Acer t310 fan runs when shutdown

More than likely the cpu is still hot even after you shut off you computer, so as a saftey precaution the fan is trying to cool it down,(which is a good thing).

No boot up screen

Hello.

The mother Board is a possibility, but I think that first I would check the main power supply. It is best to substitute in a known good PS to verify. If a good power supply fails to correct. I would look on the mother board for obvious hot spots or electrolytic capacitors with bulging tops or shrunken PVC outer coverings. Manufacturers have built with defective or incorrectly marked capacitors before. I have repaired several by just replacing the caps that had overheated and started to vent pressure after doming their tops.

Good luck.

If there are no beeps, try removing one of your memory sticks to see if it will boot, no beeps means no memory check.
