I have a PC running win98. I used to use Yamipod to load files onto the itunes on my v3i.... my last memory card went kaput a few days back. now there seems to be a problem as YAMIPOD says you have used YAMIPOD with an unknown iTunes version, probably a new one. on continuing I get an error saying unsupported mhsd number. I am confused as the same thing used to work earlier.

You can't "backwards sync" (put music from your iPod back onto your computer) through iTunes. When you went to sync after you got your fixed computer back, I'm assuming iTunes tried to copy what was in iTunes (nothing) to your iPod, which probably is what caused these problems.
Assuming you still have the music on your iPod, I would recommend transferring the music from your iPod back to your computer (to a folder other than iTunes), restoring your iPod to factory settings, then moving all of the music files into iTunes and re-syncing your iPod.
There are two programs that are available to transfer songs from your
iPod back onto your computer. The first is iDump and the second is
YamiPod. I have found that iDump is the better of the two.
The link for iDump is: iDump
when everything has loaded, open the files on the memory stick. Should ask you if you want to open/view files. If this dosn't pop up, go to 'my computer', click on the memory card and go through the files like you would any other.
when you see the music in sight, simply highlight and drag onto ipod or itunes
you can't transfer files to itunes through card reader.... insert back your card to your phone, connect to comp, and upload songs via itunes software.. no other way......
first ul hav to download the itunes software frm the internet or the cd provided to u..after that ul just have to import the music files to the itunes. then connect ur mobile and load music frm ur itunes file to the mobile...if u have any doubts keep me updated..will b glad to help
first reformat your ipod using the right click on the mouse
then you can get a program that works with the ipod but you dont need itunes
its called yamipod and it works great you can get it from here if it dosent solve your problems contact me and i will help you i currently use yamipod my self
You can download itunes at apple.ca. Once fully installed, just plug in your v3i, and itunes will automatically see it. From there, all you have to do is drag and drop your mp3's.
Unfortunately, no matter how big your memory card is, you'll only be able fit 100 songs.
I have the phone to put music into itunes you need to go to settings then connection settings then USB settings after that you put default connection:Memory Card but you must first buy a 1GB micro memory card the V3i isn't strong enough to hold 2GB or more now when you connect it a message should appear saying from itunes on your phone so then itunes will open up on your PC and just start to drag and drop your songs to the phone and before you dissconnect the phone turn it OFF! or else the memory card will corrupt so make sure the phone is completly OFF! make sure you also install Motorola Phone Tools for other enjoyment in your motorola phone! Thats it
Are you saying the install isn't working or you'd rather die than install that iCrap on your computer? Either way, there are a lot of alternatives to using iTunes to put songs on an iPod. A good, free program for putting music on your ipod is YamiPod.
YamiPod is a freeware application to efficiently manage your iPod under Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. It can be run directly from your iPod and needs no installation. This basically means that you can put it onto your iPod when it's being used as a disk (from My Computer), and then run the program from anywhere without installing it on the host computer.
