Alright, lets fix this!
Xbox 360 power supply light is orange or yellow. Usually when the Xbox 360 power supply light is orange it's on standby so there is no problem with your Xbox 360 console but the power supply can't supply it with power !
First you have to try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console & unplugging the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power supply from the power cord, wait for a minute then reconnect it all back , also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cords at all. If it's still doing the same it will be definitely a fault with the Xbox 360 power supply. So, in this case please contact Xbox 360 customer support to fulfill the Xbox 360 power supply.
Xbox 360 power supply light is red. It is an internal error. Most likely the gpu. I hear Microsoft extended there warranty for certain problems including the rrod or the e74 error. I believe this a precursor for one of those errors. So you should try your luck with Microsoft, they'll probably do it for free. if not i'd recommend you save up for another. 360s are pretty cheap now days, and coupled with the reasonable prices broken 360s go for on ebay. You could get a working one with little damage to your wallet. Also if you want to fix it just google it you should get plenty of repair services. Make sure you go with a reputable place/person.
P.S. You should give the 360 ventilation room(room around the 360 so it breaths in cool air not the air it blows out) since this problem was caused from long periods of heat in the xbox. Mabye buy an intercooler.
It might be Red ring of Death problem, You can either send your Xbox
toMicrosoft and wait for 2-3 weeks till you get back your Xbox or you
canfix the problem yourself with the help of a DIY fix guide. Check out the post discussing about RROD problem here: http://www.fix-xbox360.info/2008/08/23/xbox-360-red-light-fix/ Hope it helps...
Sounds like there is something wrong with the Xbox 360 power supply,
try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console and unplug
the power cord from the wall outlet also unplug the Xbox 360 power
supply from the power cord. Give it a minute then reconnect it all
back, also try it on another wall outlet without any extension cord at
If it's still red that suggests fault with your
Xbox 360 power supply so will need to contact Xbox 360 customer support if its under warranty they should be able to sort it out for you. If out of warranty it might cost you for a new power supply!

It should be orange if turned off and go green when turned on if it is red your power supply box is no good you can unplug it leave off for 10 minutes or so then try again if light doesn't go orange you won't be able to turn it on. I had the same problem and it was power supply box with red light got new one works great.
