Question about Dell W4200 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

Way over my head

Thanks for the response. I don't understand the majority of what you wrote. I am not a trained service tech, just a TV owner that is handy. I saw some posts online talking about replacing various boards. I can handle that and have found the various boards online.

Can someone tell me which board(s) to replace to solve my problem?

I replaced the entire board you reference and it didn't fix the problem. Not to mention, Once again you suggested replacing individual capaicitors, not to mention the wrong ones. You've been no help and I've wasted my money on this site.

How to trouble shoot a Philips HDtv model 42PF5321D/37

Hi, you can try the troubleshoot procedure in your owner's manual to correct the current problem with your TV, if this does not fix it, then you will need to have the TV checked out by certified electronics tech. If you have some electronics training you might be able to do the troubleshooting your self, but you will need to sign in to our tech support services where you will be assigned an expert that will give you tech advice on what to look for, where to get replacement parts(if needed) and trouble shooting ideas. You will need some information needed, like..a good description of the problem.

My TV a LG 52LG60 52 in. "Scarlet" HDTV LCD TV "loops" when powering up. It will light the power button, begin the startup sequence, and then power back down, and back up again, never attempting to light...

This is a classic switchmode power supply, shutting down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both. This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, So the power supply tries to do this, however when it does, the fault, is temporarily removed, (Usually because the faulty component cools down) and then, it restarts up again, senses the fault, and shuts down, and then... and so on...
We call this a "Hicupping Power supply" This set should be removed from the Power, and in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an, Approved Service Center, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their local, "Head Office" Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement. The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand, also sometimes, there has been a service bulletin in issued and the repair may be subsided or even free.
Please find below FYI a Training manuals, this is what I use to teach the technicians to troubleshoot and understand just how it all works and what to do,and how complex and difficult, these units are to service.

Above is your user manual and below is a training manual this is so you can get an understanding of exactly how complex and hard these units are to service for any DIYer.
it is nearly always my professional opinion that one should always get a "Quote" from the manufacturers recommended service center, Sanyo, in your case, please contact a local or head office and ask for a referral to an Authorised service center. I cannot stress how important that last point is. It is even worth the cost of shipping. You see an authorised service agent, will have trained staff, trained on their brand, also they have first hand access to parts, original parts. This will actually save you money and ensure you can actually get it back fixed. Of course asking for a "Quote" also gives on the option of repair or replace. Often my clients,do not go through with repair, unless it is moderate, but in some of the more costly jobs they see it, as do i, that a replacement, with a warranty, is a better option. As an aside here, one could then tear the TV down, and sell the Known Good bits. You'd be surprised who needs parts, i myself often must by from third party sources to effect a repair. So money could be recouped, somewhat, and help out someone else.

Above is a service training manual, to give you an idea of how it all works. To do ANY work, one MUST obtain a Service manual for your exact make and model.

First place to start is with the Main bd. Have a trained Samsung tech troubleshoot the set. Call 1-800-Samsung to set up a service call since your tv is a new model and is under manufacture warranty. Make sure you tell them you want a Samsung Field Engineer to repair your set. They are the most qualified and trained to fix your set.

SCREECHING NOISE

I have a 37" combo TV/DVD unit. It's been doing this for about 6 months. Wrote to tech support from their website. Got nothing but an automatic response. When I called them, they automatically tell you the part you need is not available. It is a law that a part be available for 7 years. I have filed a complaint with the Bureau of Electronic and Appliance Repair (BEAR) against them. I need a new LCD control panel. Others have had success getting the parts they needed by going this route. Try it. Maybe they'll stop scamming us consumers. They get your TV back, fix it and resell it as reconditioned.
