How to save video files in the mpg folder of everio - GZ_MG37AA

I have found a mpg folder on the camera but do not know how to change my default settings so tht all new videos are saved as mpg instead of jpg or whatever they normally are.

Does anyone know how to do this?

This camera only saves videos as *.MOD files and photos as *.jpg To save your video files as *.mpg you will need to take them off the camera, on to a Mac or PC and use a third party file converter. Download this from www.squared5.com it's FREE.
If you are using a mac you will also need to Purchase MPEG 2 software from Apple (about $20)

Only folder PGM__ contains video, and extension".TOD" or ".MOD" is the video file. Sometimes broken files will be save as .mpg on a separate folder. For your convenient use the provided software to edit/play these files. Hope this helps

Can't transfer videos from JVC Everio camcorder onto my MAC

Share: How to import .tod files from JVC Everio HDD Camcorder to iMovie?

Requirements: iMovie (Part of the iLife 08 package)

Step 1: Connect the Everio to the Mac (Via USB)
Make sure you are powering the Everio from the mains before connecting your JVC Everio Camcorder.

Step 2: Playback on PC
Select “Playback on PC” on the Everio, once connected you will see the Everio HDD symbol appear on the desktop. The video files on the Everio are stored in the SD Folder/PRG***/MOV***.MOD.

Step 3: Open iMovie
Once you open iMovie, you will see that it recognizes the Everio straight away and will attempt to import your video.

You are now ready to use iMovie to edit your video files.

If need change .tod files to common video formats like mov, mp4, m4v, mpg, mpeg, dv, flv, avi, wmv, 3gp, mkv, mp3, aac, wma, m4a, etc. Mod Tod Video Converter for Mac is a good choice. The program can also convert mod tod to ipod, mod tod to iphone, tod to apple tv, tod to blackberry and more devices!

** If you find yourself having issues changing the file extension, open my computer... select tools... go to folder options.... un-check "Hide extension for known file types", check it back when your finished if you have kids.. I do for my computer.***

**You are simply creating copies of your files when you drag and drop you movies and pics***

These step will allow you to view back you movies using Windows Media Player until you get your software.

I have a JVC GZ MG145AA and i dont know how to transfer files to my computer

Their should be a USB mini plug in the very front of the camcorder.
Just left of the Microphone. Plug in a cable and the other end to you computer. Turn on the JVC If a prompt pops up on you Computer. Choose to open the folder. Or go to my computer, and find the drive that should be created. Just open the drive and find the files you want. Select them and drag them to you desktop.

A trick I had to do to get the *.moi movies to play on windows was change the file extent-ion to *.mpg..

JVC Everio GZ-HD3 Flash Media Camcorder

If you plug in the USB cable from the camera to a Windows XP machine, the Everio disk looks like a USB disk drive, and I can copy the files over using Windows Explorer. In order to convert them to MPG files, we are using Cyberlink PowerDirector5 NE Express, since the camera produces TOD files, which need to be converted to MPG. We are using MAGIX as the video editor after the conversion from TOD to MPG.

I just got the jvc everio cam GZ MG555U

Hi southofdawn, Here is the current workflow I'm using to convert .mod files. I use a Everio MG-555U.
Step 01: Transfer all .mod video files to the mac hard drive.
Step 02: I use a free program called "NameChanger" to change the .mod extension to .mpg. Dowload NameChanger here: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/31207
Step 03: I use another free program called "Mpeg StreamClip" to BATCH CONVERT the .mpg's to a quicktime friendly format like DV or something. The batch window is under the list drop down menu at the top of the screen. Streamclip can be found here: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/24055
DONE
This is the way I do it and it seems to work ok for me. There's probably a faster way but I haven't found it yet.
Cheers,  -atomicjo

JVC HD download to mac

Mac OS should see the cancorder as an external drive.
Manually copy across the MPG files using your OS.

When you download your video files onto your pc and go to find them in the prg files you notice two kinds of files. The big ones with extension .mod are the video files. I've had success changing the file extension to .mpg and then importing it to your other editing software programs. Hope this helps.

Converting video to playable dvd wot moi file

as stupid and simple as it sounds:
rename the file extension to %filename%.MPG and it will play with your normal video player (I use VLC player).
found this solution on some other site, was sceptical, but it really works.
