I just bought a house and the racks are too narrow for the oven. I suspect the previous owners used the self-cleaning feature and the oven was warped. If I replace the inner lining of the oven, do you think that my oven racks will fit again? Thanks.

Just saw this post - I too have the same problem. So far, Sears is ignoring me and I cannot afford a new stove. I am currently checking into adjustable oven racks - waiting for a quote. Try custom made racks from Kitchen Appliance, Canada ( hopefully you are from Canada, :) )

Julie, Turn your oven on to self clean setting and let oven do the work. You may have some ash to wipe out after oven ran self clean cycle and has cooled.

Electrolux Icon Oven self cleaning won't start- the lock button keeps flashing. Yes, the racks and rack holders are removed.

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are having trouble with your Electrolux Icon oven, model# E30SO75ESS, and running the self-clean cycle. I see that the lock button keeps flashing and that you have the racks and rack holders out. I suggest following the steps below to run your self-clean cycle:

    1) Place the rack holders and the racks in your oven.

    2) Reset your appliance, by shutting the power off at your homes circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes.

    3) Restore power.

    4) Reset the clock, by pressing the "Clock" button then press the number "2". Enter in the time of day, and then press the "Clock" button again.

    5) Start the self-clean cycle with the racks in your range. This is to make your oven recognize that the racks are in the oven.

    6) Take the racks and rack holders out and start the self-clean cycle again.

I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your oven status has changed successfully.

    -Best Regards-

GE Monogram Trivection - self-clean cycle with oven racks in

Hello- First off, do not use 'self clean', or as most Techs call it: "Self- Destruct".  This 'feature' cheerfully sold by the salesman destroys more oven and range components than any other failure. Now- the racks had a thin layer of grease on them when the oven tried to turn stuff inside the oven to ash.  The grease is now a hard rubbery coating on the surface of the rack.  To solve this problem, you must determine by observation, where the rack touches the sides of the oven. These contact areas need to be cleaned thoroughly with scotchbrite and a small portion of oven cleaner. Make sure you use gloves. Sliding rack in and out to 'mark' these small spots works pretty good.  Once cleaned and wiped down, they should work fine. I recommend cleaning by removing as much 'stuff' by scraping and wiping down with moist cloth.  Turn on to 450deg for 30 min.  Much safer, less costly.                                                       Please acknowledge this posted solution if helpful.  Have more info if needed-  Thanks  -Ed

Do I remove the racks before self cleaning my Viking oven? Will it dull the shiny finish? How do I clean them if I take them out?

Hi,

It is a matter of personal choice to whether you remove the rack`s or not, no harm will come to you from not removing them but...If they are chrome finished they will become very dull and look like bbq grills over time and in extreme cases, warp and consequently not fit well.

If they are finished with enamel to match the oven liner, don`t worry, they are designed to be left in place, even during self clean cycles.

As for how you can clean them. You can do this by removing them and with a suitable work space (a bath tub or laundry tub works great) with regular oven cleaner`s, (preferably environmentally friendly...check your local by-laws) or other household cleaners with the assistance of a scrub pad and elbow grease. Be sure and rinse them thoroughly when finished with the cleaner`s.

Hope that help`s. If so, please take a second to rate the solution provided by me here at fixya. Thank you.

Good luck.
