Venturer 5 CD player

Unit is about 3 years old, bought at Kmart I think. The door of the CD tray will not go fully closed. It feels and sounds as though there is an obstruction but using a flashlight I cannot see anything that might be keeping the slide from closing all the way

One of your elite experts allowed as how I would need to disassemble the unit to find the problem. How many college high brow units did he take to arrive at that great advice. I didn't have much hope of finding the problem with that kind of advice so I solved the problem by buying a new unit. Pf-f-f-f-t to you all

Sounds like belts are slipping under tray. They can be cleaned or replaced or new ones of course.

Hi,
I might be able to make a comment that makes some sense to you.
I have owned several CD changers, including ones made by Yamaha.
What happens is that the belts that control the opening and closing of
the tray and engage various features tend to stretch over a period of years.
Thus you get things, like the drawer doesn't go out or in properly. Or some
other weird thing happens. The best suggestion I have, if you feel confident is
do the following procedure for locating a slipping belt.
1 Unplug the power from unit
2 Remove the cover (usually a phillips head screwdriver will work.
3 Plug in the unit, push the power button but don't reach inside of it.
4 With a good, bright flashlight so you see very well push the button to open the door.
While it is trying to open, LOOK for a small pulley attached to a belt that is attempting
unsuccessfully to open the door. That belt will look good, but be stretched enough to not
succeed. It will take some repeating to (hopefully) find it.
5 Replace that belt.
The best way to do this is to remove it and locate and electronic PARTS supplier in your area.
Not really Radio Shack but a true electronic parts place where you can go down and the counter person will help you match it up to belts that they stock for thousands of small electronics devices. Might take a lot of searching.

There is one other solution I know of. VERY OFTEN these devices like your CD Changer end up in thrift stores all across America. They can now be bought for a song, so to speak.
I hope this helps you,
Best Regards,
Mark

I have a cdc 675 CD changer, When I close the draw it stays close about 10 seconds, the display reads "open" and it opens back up whether there are discs in it or not

It's reporting that it (correctly or incorrectly) detected that the drawer has not fully "closed", i.e., it thinks that there was a "jam" while the drawer was sliding towards the "closed" position.

This sounds (pun intended) like you need to take the unit to a qualified audio/video technician, to trouble-shoot, and maybe check the "alignment" of the drive-tray.

I have a Technics 5 disc CD player. The loading

Unplug the units power, unscrew and remove the top. it has 3 screws on the back and I believe 2 in each side. Look to see if anything such as a CD is jamming or preventing the tray from opening.

If there isn't something like a CD physically blocking the door mechanism then the issue could be anything from a slipping drive band a dead motor or something has gone wrong with the mainboard.

The "expected" life of an audio component is 5-9 years. If its past 3 years old its generally not worth repairing as 1 hour labor and a motor for instance would cost you more than the cost of a new unit.

Hope that helps

Onkyo C-707chx cd tray jammed won't open won't play

I have the same exact problem with my Onkyo C-707CHX and I found a solution that doesn't involve jamming any screws or other metal objects into your cd tray (which could most likely just cause more damage). This way seems a little safer: Power on your device and hit the open button. As soon as you hit the open button quickly push slightly with both hands on both sides of the cd tray that should be opening. You should hear the trays moving around in there and then you have to try to feel for a slight push from the tray. As soon as you feel that slight push, take your hands off of the tray and let it come out. This has been working for me for a while now (and hopefully will continue to work until I take it to get fixed somewhere). The only issue I have run into is that my "Disc 1" open button doesn't work with this method. So I just use this method with disc 2 or 3 and then once it's open I can hit the disc 1 button to get to that tray. So if it doesn't work with one tray, try the other two as well. Hope this helps.

Eject tray belt broke

Opening the DVD player tray is not as hard as you would think.

1. Remove three black screws holding the outer cover on the unit (located on rear of unit)

2. Carefully remove front panel trim by gently prying six clips (3 on top, 3 on bottom) away from unit and pulling panel away from unit.

3. Locate opening at the front of the DVD player that houses a larger white gear.

4. Using a finger, gently move gear until DVD tray begins to move outward.

5. Continue until DVD is fully ejected.

6. Try plugging the unit back into AC outlet and attempt to Open/Close the tray using the provided button on the Front Panel Circuit Board.

7. Reverse steps above to put unit back together.
