Question about Dell W4200 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
I have a W4200HD. I am getting 2 bands of distrotion (negative image), one at the top 1/2 of the screen and the other in the bottom 1/2. It's worse at the bottom of the band and get better going up. when the image is neutral the negative images is worst. For quite some time if you turn the tv off then try and turn it back on you have to unplug it for a few seconds. this problem happened right after doing that. I have the TV open but don't have a lot of expereince with electrons. Certainly seems easy to replace boards. Can anyone tell me which board is bad?
Thanks a bunch, David Henderson
Try replacing the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply section. I started with replacing (2) 860uf 180v caps just after the bridge rectifier and continued along the circuit. Some (15) or so capacitors later,it finally cleared the the horizontal bars and lines and the high pitched noise. It also fixed another intermediate problem of no video, when turning on the power.
