Ensure you switch on the exteral outlet of your laptop.
for acer i am told the following
right click the desktop and choose graphics options/external monitor. ensure this is set to external monitor.
if not look for a button on your keyboard that has a monitor square shape on it. then use the fn or function key together with this key to toggle thorough, notebook screen - notebook+monitor- monitor only.
2. ensure the source is set to on TV for the input for pc monitor connection. ensure and correct monitor cable is between the input connector on your tv and the monitor output of your laptop.
