Question about Goldstar Air Conditioners

1 Answer

I have a goldstar air conditioner model R0801E that starts spraying water from the fan outlet after it has run for approximately 1 hour. I have checked the drain and it is not plugged, nor is there any obstruction to it, I have in fact drilled a hole into the 'formed' drain channel on the bottom which leads to the drain nipple located on one back corner. i have tried tilting the unit in order that gravity might assist and it still blows water enough that i can't use it or it will ruin the wall, window trim, etc. besides taking a sledge hammer to it before throwing it out, any suggestions?

Seems i have the problem resolved by doing the following:

increasing the thermostat setting from 25* C to 29*C, this will reduce the load on the cooling condenser,
ensuring that the vent is set for 'fresh' as opposed to 'recirculating' room air.
installing a shade over the unit outside to shield it from direct sunlight, as well as provide a partial windblock as the wind typically blows strongly and directly at the a/c unit possibly pushing any condensed water toward the squirrel cage fan.
in any case, the unit is cooling our kitchen and i am once again a happy puppy!!!

Why does the air conditioner shut off and not start back up for extended periods of time

Does the fan keep running? If it does take it outside and clean the condenser coil and evap coil with a water hose. use a spray nozzle when doing this. See if this helps.

What maintance do goldstar conditions need? My cooler is not working as well and I cleaned the front filter. I'm not sure what window conditioner I have.

these units need to be cleaned every few years. so take it outside, get your garden hose; and clean the coils on both sides. front an back coils need to be clean. a coil cleaner should be used but good water presure should do fine. try not to get switches to wet. or cover them first. spray coils clean. let dry in the sun. tilt unit to get most water out then blow dry with a fan or just wait till its dry it will work like new after your done.good luck

Leaks water from back

this is not a water leak ! it is the humidity in the room which collects as water and drains out at the back.keep a bucket underneath or attach a drain pipe to the outlet .

Power

If it starts sometimes and not others...I would check the start capacitor. This is the "booster" to get the electrical items running.

Goldstar 10000 blows water out front

Two possible problems.
1. High humidity in the space being cooled
2. Drain line that runs from the front (where the water is blowing out) to the back where it is sent to evaporate. Clean out the drain line and condensate pan under the fins where the water is blowing out.

This goldstar air conditioner model is WG2405RY7 It has an energy saver, but the unit just keeps running and won't shut off, everything else works.

Doe's the temp reach the set point? If not then it will run until it doe's. If you set the stat warmer and the fan keeps running after compressor shuts off check to make sure it is in power saver mode. Most AC units keep more even temp when fan is left on.

Support of 8000btu goldstar/its leaning backwards?

If this is a window type aircon, yes, but not to much. This is to drain water accumulation on its basin, where its sink is located. Fan could **** the water and sprayed it to the electrical system. That could damaged itself. And also it is designed that way so that drain water doesn't go inside.

Its support should be rigid enough to support the unit, usually it start from its face plate and extended to its rear end, and then a bracket to reinforce support at the rear end.

Ac unit not powering / starting up

Did you try to plug a lamp into the same outlet as you have the A/C plugged into? It could be that you have no power at the outlet or the circuit breaker could be off or tripped. Something should run like the fan only position.
