Question about Soundstorm 2F400 Car Audio Amplifier

Aux input on Soundstorm amp

Does the Soundstorm 2F200 Force 2 & the Soundstorm 2F400 Force 2 amps have an aux imput so that I can plug my Ipod directly into the amp. Im wanting to avoid having to have a car stereo since its going in my Yamaha Rhino (utility vehicle). I have the speakers already installed so I can just hook them up the the amp.

If the amplifiers have RCA jacks, you can use an adapter cable to go from the headphone jack to the RCA inputs on the amp. If you're in the U.S., Radio Shack will likely have what you need.

Every time i turn my radio up my amp shut off and on ,and it get real hotand the protection light come on

It sounds like your input power to the amp is too high. Check if you connected the aux output RCA
on your car radio, to the RCA input on the amp. If you connected the speakers to it, you should use
a resistor in the leads. You can buy them in any well sorted car audio shop.

Tip

Save your charging, and electrical system when installing a audio amp.

Every one wants the BIG amp,the more powerful, the better right? When installing an audio amp,it is good to install a addition battery,in the trunk, it is the idea place, just ground the battery to the frame or body,to a good know ground,It needs to be a large cable,1/o wire, yeah, that is big,but will keep you from having problems, then run a 1/o positive cable from the aux battery you have just put in the trunk,to the main battery in the vehicle, use a 3/4 heater hose to insulate the positive cable you have just installed. This heater hose will prevent a portion of the cable to be rubbed threw on the insulation of the cable and shorting out. Then install the amp.Now ,for better electrical control over the charging system of the vehicle, you can install a isolator ,to separate the circuit, and still charge the battery up with the vehicles alternator.Install the isolator at the vehicles battery and the positive cable you just ran.The alternator will charge the aux battery, and the vehicles battery, and not affect the running of the vehicles engine,or charging system.Be sure to connect the amp to the aux battery only, and the aux battery needs to be a good strong battery such as a 65 style battery such as for a full size ford crown victoria. These batteries are full of power. There you are,you are ready to thump, and do it safely .You need to install a fuse holder between the positive cable from the aux battery and the isolator, use a max link fuse holder and fuse, and a strong 60 or 80 amp fuse, this will blow into before starting a fire,.

Does an mp3 player put out enough power for input to KAC-624 amp?

Have you connected the rca plugs to the radio or amp directly? If you've connected it to the radio make sure that the input level controls are adjusted AND available on that model (it will say AUX, INPUT, SUBWOOFER, REAR, etc.) Connecting your mp3 player directly to the amp will not have enough juice to hear sound you need to connect it to the radio first.

Hooking up system using HI-INPUT amp wires.

This may sound dumb, but are there any other inputs left on the amp? Most amps that i have worked with have a special set of inputs for high input. (by high input you mean speaker level right?) If those exist the obvious answer is to use those. They should be labeled, so just hook them up according to them. You may need a special adapter from the amp manufacturer. If you dont have any high level inputs or any not broken inputs left you have two options. You can either A: junk the amp or B: open it up and solder new connectors back on. (it sounds harder than it really is. There are four large pieces of metal to solder onto the board for a set of inputs)

Have you checked to see if your subs voice coils have shorted. That could cause the amp to heat up, on rare occasions the protection lights don't work. Rare, but possible.

My amp!!

okay, 200 x 4 means 800Watts now that should be the peak RMS which is how it regularly works "STABLE" should be 400 or 100rms per chanel, find speakers of 100 rms to get e clean sound wave. If you can bridge it get you two 200 rms speakers.
