Hi, Firstly I would check to see if there is an air filter screen inside the machine - usually just behind the intake grille. They can be tricky to spot. If the filter screen is clogged up with fluff it will prevent the machine from working properly.

Secondly, can you see any signs of ice or condensation on the cold pipes? If not, and the compressor is running - a purring or throbbing sound - your machine might have a refrigerant gas leak. You would then need to get it checked / repaired by a regrigeration engineer.

Does this help? If not please give further details and ask again. Thanks.

    Hi heier1,

If I read you correctly the compressor is running but not cooling the pipes, so I'm sorry but it sounds like your machine has developed a refrigerant leak. If I'm correct then it will need to be repaired by a refrigeration engineer who has the necessary equipment to locate the leak, and then recharged with the appropriate gas.

    Sorry! D.

    Hi.

You haven't specified your location in your profile, but the first thing to try is the "Repair Service" box on this page.

    I hope this helps. D.

Does it have a filter?

"
It may be that the humidity level or temperature in the room where your dehumidifier is located is too low.

When the outdoor temperature is below 50 F, the indoor air will be dry even when the air inside is warm, therefore when it's cold outside the dehumidifier may collect little or no water.

Air conditioners will also remove moisture from the room, even if it's hot and humid outside, resulting in little or no moisture collecting in the dehumidifier bucket.

Some dehumidifiers have a deicer which turns off the compressor but keeps the fan running. When the compressor is off, moisture is not removed from the air. The deicer turns off the compressor when the room temperature is cold.

Some dehumidifiers do not have a deicer. If the room temperature is low enough, ice may form on the evaporator coil. The ice prevents the dehumidifier from removing and collecting water. If ice forms on coils, unplug dehumidifier until ice melts and room temperature rises."

The dehumidifier runs but does not remove moisture. The coils are cold but no frost. The inner coil is hot.

If ice forms on coils, unplug dehumidifier until ice melts and room temperature rises.

The filter (on some models) may be dirty or clogged. If so, clean the filter. For instructions on cleaning the filter.

Our humidifer runs but does not collect water.

Againg, if theres no moister in the air it wont remove water. if you feel the location for exmaple a basment feels cool when entering , then mosuet exist. dehumidifer will make any location warm when removing the coolnest in the air. within summer hot months it will collect more water than in the winter months. if it does feel cool and machine dont remove the water. call a repair person.
