Make sure there is not a hidden button panel on the front left side of the television.

I recommend purchasing a universal remote. You will likely need the remote to have full functioning of the television.

you should try shutting off the television for an hour by unplugging it from the wall. this should reset the tv to the setup mode and allow channel programming.

You should be able to just use the channel buttons on the TV itself. Go lower than 1 and it should go to video 1 or 2 ect. If this doesn't work there should be a menu button on there too. You use the channel buttons and volume buttons to move the cursor once you get into the menu.

Hope that helps.........

Here's a couple of places you might be able to get a manual to reference. You didn't put the exact model so I couldn't narrow it down for you.

Have you ever thought about purchasing a universal remote for the tv? Run you about 10 bucks and you will have most of the basic functions that you need.
Thanks,
Lee

So you don't want to purchase a universal remote? You CANNOT program the channels without a remote. Is that acceptable answer to your problem? If you could accept and rate accordingly that would be greatly appreciated. If you need further assistance please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Lee

The codes come with the remote when you purchase it. We would have to know the remote. Obviously if you are trying to use a universal then you should have found my solutions at least helpful as that is what i suggested.
    Thanks though,
    Lee

cause you CAN NOT, OK i will repeat that again CAN NOT PROGRAM you TV with out the remote. So we are clear YOU CAN NOT PROGRAM THIS TV WITHOUT A REMOTE. Ok i dont want you to think we are holding out on you to give you the real answer. for $1 you can get a universal remote that will work for your tv. They have cheap universal remotes everywhere that will allow you to program your tv. Because YOU MUST HAVE A REMOTE TO PROGRAM THIS TV.

Nathan

I do not have the manual for my JVC TV. Having problems setting the proper channel number to get my Directv stations

Use a generic universal remote. Program the remote to your JVC tv. Use the newly programmed remote to put your JVC tv on channel 3 (or 4) or the appropriate channel for Direct TV.

I can't get channels bwyond 13 and remote is gone so I can't reprogram for other channels. Can this be done withour the remote?

hopefully you have a menu button on your TV, if so you should be able to access auto program (you might have to search to find the auto search)but before you auto program make sure you set your TV to a cable setting then auto program. If you do not have a menu button on the TV, you could also try buying a universal remote. If you don't want to do that you could always use a VCR, just set your TV on channel 3 and do a auto program on the VCR ,using the VCR remote you should be able to tune in the channels your missing through the VCR.

I cannot program channels past 35? there is no menu to allow the TV to search for other cable channels. I have a new remote control, but the menu screen does not seam to have anywhere to program...

If you have no remote for this TV that is orginal then it will be hard to get to the menu there is no shortcut to the menu on fixya.com however there are remotes that do get you to the menu and websites sale them www.remote.com look for you model number tv and blam order it and you will reep the benifits of full blown programming. Otherwise rent a box from the cable company if you do not want to pay for a $14.00 orginal remote. Rulds2008 Rate me!

My new TV is set for cable. I do not have cable, I have an anten

Sansui TV's come from the factory set for CABLE. If this is a HDLCDVD320, you will have to go into the menu to change the signal type to AIR, then run the automatic search to program in your channels. Their free customer service line is 800 289 0980.
I hope this helps.

Can't change channels!!!!

take the batteries out of the remote...now check if you can change channels manually on the big screen. if so the remote is stuck on one signal that channel u said. get a new remote. if still same trouble on big screen look hard at the buttons and make sure none are jammed. also try to get to your setup menu and auto-program the channels it should search everything and then try changing channels. new stuff alot times plugs come loose, goes back to the factory workers...not pushing them tight have a tech check that at your home.
