Not sure if this model computer supports SATA drive interface. It uses IDE interface for hard drive. Here is a link to your model:

If you are having problems installing windows 7,you might wnat to go into your bios main screen and see if your hard drive(sata mode) is set to IDE.If so,set it to AHCI mode,as any operating systems above windows xp will not install on IDE mode.Hope this solves your problem :)

If your CD-Drive is IDE and you have IDE HDD you need to remove or set correctly jumper on the back of CD-Drive. I think by default it's setup to be Master, and HDD also Master, so you need to give somebody Slave priority neither HDD/CD

First open cpu cabinet.
Then disconnect power cable and sata or ide cable from harddiks then connect agagin.
Also check your ide or sata cable which connect to hdd works fine.
Refix your RAM memory to.
Then when you power up the computer press F! or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios.
Then check in bios that your hdd is detected?
Then if detected set first boot device in boot optionj in hdd then check.

Check the cables between the devices. If youve changed out the HD and the DVD drive and still got an issue, the cables are most likely the culprit. If that doesnt help, change the jumper settings on your IDE drives (if master slave setup switch to cable select and vice versa).

My computer won't boot up

You are having a classic indication of a hard drive failure.

Boot to the BIOS (System Setup) Usually F2, or DEL at boot) and see if the hard drive is seen by system setup (most likely it will not be seen)

If HDD is not seen, the power off, unplug and reseat the power and data cables to the drive. If still not seen, replace the HDD

I installed an additional hard drive in my laptop. The computer will no longer boot up. I've read the the BIOS needs to be changed by I don't know how.

Please tell me which Motherboard your system has???
If you have added an additional drive, check whether you have set the jumpers right for master/slave/cable select configuration.

If you bios setup to boot up from first HDD, then the bootable HDD shall be in master mode. Configure bootable HDD as master & additional one as slave.

If still no luck, Put this additional HDD on other IDE slot.
Tell me if this works...

How do you set a samsung ide hd to master mode

To set a Hard Disk to master mode is quite simple. On the side of the Hard Disk that has the power hook-up and data hook-up, there is also a small section of usually about 8 little prongs, and you'll see something that looks like somebody stuck something on those prongs. It is called a jumper, and it can put the hard disk in various states such as Master, Slave, Cable Select, and more. You usually cant use a hard drive without a jumper, so don't lose it. On either the top or bottom of the HD, there should be various information about the HD. You should also see a diagram of about 8 squares, just like the 8 prongs next to the power and data connections on the HD. Find the one for Single or Master, switch the jumper to the position it tells you to, and you'll be all set!

Re: lg tower xp install

Hi,
the boot device setup in the bios, if you set atapi-cd rom as first boot device. then hdd second. and fdd last.
it appears that you have a faulty connection from the IDE ( 40-80 wire cable ) that runs from the motherboard Primary/secondary slot. check the cable goes from motherboard to hard-drive and is connected firmly, also check the jumper blocks ( small white plastic block ) is set to master or slave on both devices ( cd-hard-drive ) if both on same cable set hard-drive to slave and CD rom to master. if they are both set as master or slave, they will conflict with each other.
if you need further help, please mail back.
