Question about Kenmore 23822 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Doesn't spin it doesn't spin on the regular cycle. if you manually put the dial on spin cycle and pull the knob it will work. otherwise on the normal cycle it just skips over it. the spin cycle works fine on the heavy duty cycle. do i have a timer problem?

  • yes it does sound like the timer is bad.
  • the timer has small contacts in it (sort of like a music box) that lift and rest in certain places.
  • these contacts may not mate properly as the timer goes around slowly in the normal operation.
  •  but when you manually turn it is a faster turn and the contacts will fall faster and get a better connection.

Whirlpool washer won't rinse or spin w/o manually turning knob

It is most likely that you have a faulty water inlet valve. Some machines have a seperate valve for rinse to flush in a fabric softener I suspect that your detergent flushing valve is faulty.....Good luck Nomess

Will not finish cycles, two hours later I will look and the tub is full of water or it may not finish spin cycle. Suspect the control timmer?

The timer mechanism is faulty. The timer is the mechanical computer of any washing machine. It simply works by connecting different circuits together for a predetermined time. If a particular cycle isn't working, the timer unit will need to be replaced. You can manually advance the timing unit by pulling out the knob in the middle of the unit, rotate the dial to the desired cycle then push the knob in- that will start that cycle. Good luck, Jim

Wash doesn't go through full cycle

I have a Maytag model A490 clothes washer. It works fine up to the rinse cycle and then shuts down. When it reaches this point it has become necessary to manually advance the dial a short ways whereupon it will fill with water and complete the rinse and spin cycles. This happens on both the regular and the permanent press cycles. What needs to be done to fix this problem?

Amana washer only works on delicate cycle

Open the control panel. Unplug the timer and then plug it back in good and firm.
If it does not work correctly after that,
Replace your timer.

seems the timer knob is old and need of replacement normally happens due to age as the timer switches inside the timer knob become old and sticky mostly unable to move so the timer isnt able to do much of its job
